Just posting this up to gauge interest as Ian.Mothersole has spotted that the organisers are offering Open Pitlane options at Japfest 2 this year. Noise limit is 100dBA static, 98dBA drive by, which should be OK for any but the most noisy aftermarket decat/exhaust combos on an RX-8, not sure about the FD boys :D
Prices are;
AM (0900-1200) for £89
PM (0100-1700) for £99
or both for £179
Typical price for a "summer" trackday at Donington is £295, so these are good prices!
More details can be found HERE (http://www.japfest2.co.uk/tag/track-time/) - please check the regulations carefully to check the car and driver comply!
Any questions? Please post up in here and we\'ll do our best to answer, or PM me if your prefer.

3. Wildman10 (am + pm)
4. Bulldog (am+pm)
5. stewartm (am+pm)
6. Jus (MRC, db check prior after mods)
Looks like this could be popular for people on the forum. I\'ve no idea how popular this will be with other individuals and car clubs and when it will sell out. So, I suggest if you really want to do this you go to the Japfest website (link below) and pay up ASAP - I\'ve just gone and done that :D

Well done Ian.M, that\'s at least two rotaries then!
BTW, Japfest2 have now sorted a bizarre website glitch whereby you could not purchase a shared garage along with a trackday! I had to put the items through separately :2Rolleyes - They have fixed it, apologised and refunded my 2nd transaction fee :D
C\'mon, there is no knowing when all these places will sell out, so pay up soon or risk HUGE disappointment!
are you bulk booking this or do we need to pay on the website?

Please book direct via the website - book a garage share if you want somewhere to stow your gear, only an extra £10.
This was a great day out, and my first outing to Donington Park. I\'ll certainly be back to this fast and flowing circuit :)
Shame we only had a handful of rotaries on track, but thanks to everyone who did venture out. Great to see Chris Putt was also out there in his RX-7 monster! Here\'s a couple of clips of what you missed.
Here\'s a video clip taken from my n/s foglight mounted "keyfob" camera. TURN THE SOUND DOWN LOW before you start as the wind noise is obtrusive.
TO GET BEST QUALITY, USE THE "COGWHEEL", BOTTOM RIGHT, TO SELECT 1080p, ONCE THE VIDEO HAS STARTED
Interesting bit as the "monster" CP Racing (Chris Putt) RX-7 race car (BIG wing) joins the three of us out of the pit lane into our braking zone (and overtakes me at 7m17s) and me letting Dave-B\'s RX-8 past at 5m50 (just so I could get him on video of course :Laugh )
A video of my last session of the day, taken on my low-res windscreen mounted camera. This was after I\'d learned the track a little better and could push a little harder. This is the complete session, following Dave-B\'s TG out from the garage to the cool-down lap and back to the garage. This last session finally finished my part worn rear pads :D I love the "beating" sound between the two exhaust notes. It is just about discernible in the video, but sounds gorgeous in the car
Managed a 90 second lap from 6m33s to 8m33s (YTube time); 16:26:59-16:28:29 on camera, despite losing a second or two behind the white car. Happy with that for my very first outing at Donington. Very impressed by the RX-8 drivers, especially Dave-B on only his 3rd trackday, and Ian.M with his R888\'s and ported engine - no way could I keep up with him :notworthy:
The "beeping" occasionally heard in background is my R-spec coolant temp warning, set to 115 degrees. I was carefully monitoring and the temp never got above 116 so was happy to keep running for a short while longer :D .
Was indeed a great day out, Glad you enjoyed Donington Park Malcolm.
This was my third time at Donington (first OPL), and certainly the best!

Had great fun following NickD here in the second video (I went a little wide at the old hairpin on one lap :Hammer )

My best lap time (from the videos) was 88seconds :Thumbs-up
Significant improvement on last years 96seconds!!
Hope to go back again next year. And hopefully will be the same OPL format as it seemed to work well.
Ian.
Apart from the grass cutting excursion ;) some very nice laps there Ian :Thumbs-up You and Nick had some fun laps there :)
