Hi
Just looking to see who is planning to attend this year\'s Spring Rotor Show at Brooklands Museum on Sunday 17th March.
We appreciate that the date is earlier than previous year\'s, but it seems that Brooklands now has a very full calender, so this was the only date we were offered.
Don\'t forget this is a free day out for full club members and those with family membership as MRC will pay your entrance fee.
All are welcome to attend whether full club member or not. See here (http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/index.php?/your-visit/) for ticket prices
Me! Will probably bring two others as well :)
Definately we will be there (hotel already booked).
Chris & Tina
Bum, I will be working.....
I will be attending, with a plus one. Can\'t wait for this!
Def will be there
Hoping to make this, should be fun.
Unfortunately I won\'t be there this year because it\'s on the same weekend as the RX8OC Annual Meet & AGM. I\'m guessing I won\'t be the only RX8OC member missing and it\'s a real shame as I think I\'ve been to the last 5 and they\'re always great.
Thanks Chris
Unfortunately when I booked the date (the only date available to us) I was not aware of the RX-8 annual meet.
What kind of event is this?
Should be attending plus 1!
Bummer it won\'t be in the FD though :(
As RXHead above; unfortunately, due to the clash with the RX8OC AGM+Annual Meet I won\'t be able to make it this year :(
Similar to RX8Head and Casey - I will unfortunately be at the RX8OC AGM + Annual Meet. :(
@Marf - it is an excellent meeting of Rotary engined vehicles - held at Brooklands, where you will have the priviledge of parking in the paddock, and if the Health and Safety brigade have not gone mad, possibly onto the Members Banking. You will have access to the museums etc. at Brooklands; and perhaps the chance to pop over to the Mercdes Benz world too (entry to those facilities not included in the Spring Rotorshow - and the show is so interesting, I\'ve yet to make it over there!).
It is an EXCELLENT day out - and usually lots of interesting stuff to see - and also usually competition(s) to enter if that is your bag.
Neil and I will be there.
@marf - it is a great day out with plenty to do even if the weather is poor. Here are my photos from 2011: https://picasaweb.google.com/annhowlett/Brooklands2011
Thanks guys, may come along then! It\'s the day after my birthday and I\'ve a trackday booked at Brands on the 18th so could be a good motoring weekend :burnout
I might turn up in my MX-5 ;)
Lotus Servicing (http://servicingstop.co.uk/lotus_mot.html)
OK Mr Scorpion
We from Holland are also trying to attend this year, and also bring some leaflets to promote our Rotarystock on July the 7th 2013. Our last Rotarystock, 2 years ago was a big succes, as all sorts of rotarys are welcome.
Best Regards,
Kees
I may well come along too this year, been meaning too for a good few years now and still not made it along! :/
Still got plenty to do on the 7 though, so if ready and I can make it.... I will :)
Phil
Hi Lisa,
I am planning to come along with my Elford.
Looking forward to it.
Cheers
Derek
I\'ll be back again this year. Hope we can make a special FB/SA turnout.
Sorry as it clashes with the RX-8OC AGM Weekend I also won\'t be there this year :(
Two weeks this Sunday! :D
I\'ll be there - would\'nt miss Brooklands
Keith
sorry cannot make this this year roped into family commitments ! over this weekend
I\'ll be there. :Thumbs-up

Sadly it\'s looking unlikely for me this year... too much to do and not enough time! :(
Next year :driving :)
Do we just turn up? Or are people meeting up before hand?
I\'ll probably be heading up a bit earlier to help get setup etc. A lot of people meet at Pease Pottage services and head up from there :)
PP is just round the corner from me. Holler if you\'re heading there peeps!
Its the girlfriends birthday that day, don\'t think she\'d be too impressed if i dragged her kicking and screaming to a car show lol.
Ok, looks like I can make this :-D
I\'m not coming to Pease Pottage though, nowhere near being on my way from Croydon to Weybridge !! :-P
My mob is 07990 777472. Look forward to seeing you guys there!
Quote from: Lisa;850872Don\'t forget this is a free day out for full club members and those with family membership as MRC will pay your entrance fee.
Do we need to do anything to benefit from this offer? I\'m a full member and I am going :)
And do we just turn up with a rotary-powered car and we\'ll be directed into the show?
Sorry if I\'m missing the obvious here.
Sounds like the museum opens at 10am normally, is that when other people are thinking of getting there, or more like lunchtime?
Don\'t worry Lisa will have a list at the gate to tell her who is a full club member.
Real pleased to see you and the others coming along as this thread was in danger of becoming an I not coming thread, for whatever reason :o
This is an excellent day out be it rain or shine with huge amounts to see at the true home of world motor racing no matter what your interest, i.e. cars bikes, areoplanes etc, plus we are the only Japanese car club to be allowed to stage an event there:cool.
It will be a sad loss to our community if we lose venue this due to lack of numbers.
Don\'t forget this is open to members and non members alike with all being welcome
I can whole-heartedly recommend this event to others. Having attended most of these events for several years, I have always enjoyed them immensely. The combination of rotary cars and their owners, the HUGE history, both car and aircraft at the Brooklands site makes for a brilliant day out for individuals and families. There is so much to see that, in all the years I\'ve been going, I\'ve still not been able to get over to "Mercedes World" (adjacent to Brooklands). In talking to other rotary car owners, visiting the numerous Brooklands exhibits, photos of cars on the legendary banking, etc, the day just flies ;) by!
Gutted many RX-8 owners can\'t make it this year due to a clash with the RX8OC AGM. So much to see, a PRIME parking spot and FREE entry for MRC members. It doesn\'t get much better for car (or plane) enthusiasts day out :)
Surely the RX8 owners can drop in to Brooklands on their way to or from the AGM? :D
:Giggle Good idea Brett, but the AGM is in Lincolnshire! Most people are staying o/night at a hotel as there is an "Annual Meet" on the Saturday, involving a trackday for some at Blyton Park :), and an evening meal at the hotel the night before the AGM. By the time we finish on Sunday and drive down to Brooklands I think the gates will be closed!
I\'m planning on an appearance in me 7
Should be a great start to the year :)
Only a week to go! :D
Frantically trying to have the FD ready for this great start to the season.
See you all there.
Chris
I`m really gealous to you guys, your motorsports season is much longer than ours! :) We still have very cold temperatures and lots of snow... :(
We got snow today too :D
It\'s snowing here as I write this and it\'s forecast for the next few days too :(
Haa haa :)
Quote from: Casey;852952It\'s snowing here as I write this and it\'s forecast for the next few days too :(
It better be done and gone by next Monday, I\'m supposed to be at Brands for a trackday!
Bah! It\'s only snow! :p
Could do a bit of slalom down Paddock!
Better be gone earlier, as we\'ve go the RX8OC "Annual Meet" trackday with over 30 RX-8\'s at Blyton Park this Saturday!
Man up the lot of you! :Giggle
2.5hrs to get home tonight, 4.8mph average. :Hammer
I will be attending Brooklands as its on my doorstep.
With Rx8head down due to his craSH AT brands and ALL the other rx8s away i might actually win something !!!!
We normally meet at 9.30 am in the tescos car park and convoy in is literally like 1 mile.
Wong be able to make this years show. My car is over the road but bust the weekend working too sadly.
If you\'ve not been its a great day out. Usually loads of great cars, people to chat to and of course the museum to wander round and take in :)
Make sure someone takes loads of pictures and does a good write up.
Adam

Best RX-8 at Rotorstock will be there. :chat Although now I\'ve done some pimping she probably won\'t win anything! :Giggle
What\'s Chris done? I hope he\'s OK??
"He became stuck near the junction with the A23 at Pease Pottage." lol
Sussex snow and ice causes disruption
The snows melting :D
I can\'t wait :D
Hi Lisa
I am planning to come along with my nephew if weather is ok.
regards John.

Excellent,
Now ten years on this Spring Rotorshow may well be the last in it\'s present guise as this years event date was real tough to get.
If you can get there please do, because if we lose this it will be a sad for many who have enjoyed this event time and time again and to members of the future due to the huge variety that the place holds, be it rain or shine there\'s loads to see and do.
It\'s still one of the best events of the year :)
Hoping to make it, but not in a Rotary :(
Quote from: Clarky;853241Hoping to make it, but not in a Rotary :(
Still be good to see you John :Thumbs-up
Hi Lisa/Clive we would like to put ourselves down for this year please, the old lady has just been serviced by Carl and passed her MOT so it will do her good to blast down there.
MarkP
I hope you will all like what I have done to H1RXY over the winter. My \'desk-job\' hands have only just recovered from polishing those BBS\' :chat Excited to share it with you all..
Greg, Mark, looking forward to seeing you there :Thumbs-up
Quote from: AMH;853050What\'s Chris done? I hope he\'s OK??
I\'m fine thanks Ann but did this to the car at Brands back on 20th Feb :(
(http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m316/RX8Head/Crash/IMG_0285.jpg)
It\'s all being sort but won\'t be back in time for the RX8 Annual meet/AGM and might be a black and grey car for a while.
More can pics etc can be seen in my link in my sig.
Really shame I can\'t make the Spring Rotar Show even if it hadn\'t been in my RX8 it would have still been great to be there.
Owowowowowowowow! That\'s heart rending :(
I\'m coming down, just as a point of detail though, when you view the events page on the brooklands website, it has zero details about the event whereas by comparison if you select the mini event the following week there is a full description - would help sell the event if we looking for more support...just an idea.
Thanks for your comments, unfortunaly we are in the hands for the person who looks after the Brooklands website. I have commented it before, but it\'s the same each year.
That\'s not good Chris but at least you\'re OK and I hope you get it all fixed.
Quote from: GregR3;853317I hope you will all like what I have done to H1RXY over the winter. My \'desk-job\' hands have only just recovered from polishing those BBS\' :chat Excited to share it with you all..
I\'ve made some cosmetic changes to my R3 so interested to see what you guys think too.
Theres a chance I might clean mine.
50/50 for me, got a trackday the day before
They sell bacon sandwiches at the cafe there, so that should easily bump you up from 50/50 to 100% :Giggle
(I\'ve decided bacon is the answer to everything)
Was dodging the rain earlier washing the car.
However the forecast is slightly better for Weybridge in the morning so we should at least have a good start before the rain sets in.
I\'ll make it down, unfortunately the FC won\'t be coming along. :/
Leaving now :) see you there folks :D
I was all set to come along to this but its snowing pretty badly at the moment, so it doesn\'t look like I\'ll be along :(
I\'m not as early a riser as you guys !! I\'m leaving Croydon in 5 mins, see you around 11:30ish :)
Wasn\'t a bad turnout considering the weather :)
I\'ll post up my pics later :)
Clive/Lisa,
MarkP here please accept my apologies for not arriving at today\'s event, but when we got up today, the weather here was atrocious, snowing and bitter, we aimed to leave at 8:30 but we hung on for an hour, but the snow persisted, and from here it is a good hour and threequarter drive, so with great regret we called it off. However we are determined to attends some more club events this year.
All the best to you both
MarkP
No worry\'s Guys Japfest will be along shortly:Thumbsup! , as Brett has said it wasn\'t a bad turnout considering the weather
HUGE thanks to those who did brave the elements, not only to get there but also that you stayed through thick and thin (read rain and rain)
Despite all this you all seemed to enjoy the day and it was great to see quite a few new and enthusiastic new guys at the event,
Right, we have all paid our penance, so we will now have sunshine for the rest of our events this year starting at Japfest on 11th of May :D
I will get some Pictures of our award winners up later
I would post up some pics but they are mainly inside Mercedes-Benz World! :Giggle
It was nice to see everyone and as Clive says I think after the rain, snow and cold today we deserve some warmer weather. :cool
Thanks for organising the event :) I had a stroll around the banking later on, amazing and really evocative scene. It\'s great that such a historic motor racing venue was able to accommodate our club.
Look forward to your pics Brett. If you know whose cars each one is, that would be great, I wasn\'t always able to put names to cars (I don\'t even know which cars won some of the categories).
Best Old Skool was Brett\'s Montrose "Rotary":Giggle
Best Gen 1 was a real nice guy and his wife at their first event with us with his gorgeous Green Gen one that had been pampered all its life :Thumbs-up
Best Gen 2 was Greg R3 with his cab that he had been rightly itching to show in its new guise :Thumbs-up
Best Gen 3 was Kevin (Kevint) with his beautiful, stock many years owned FD :cool
Best Gen 4 Was some weirdo with a yellow RX-8 and if you look closely you can see Lisa working his strings:Giggle
Best of Show was the much travelled supporting MRC events, Chris (CJR) with his hugely modded 3rd Gen :3Confused
Special mention must go to Andy Howe as it was great to see his resurrected EGI that was first shown by Andy at Rotorstock one and many more after.:driving
Special thanks must go to Kees who came all the way over from the Netherlands with his brand new Mazda 6 “rotaryâ€.
Well he told me it was Rotary, maybe, just maybe, he was not telling me the truth and it was piston powered after all :Hammer:eek::rollin:rollin
Finally the last picture is shown because it shows MRC in one shot, a 1st Gen and a 4th Gen pictured together which shows how MRC welcomes all Rotarys :Party
I\'m just uploading my pics to Flickr...
Glad to see Lisa couldn\'t compeltely hide! Mwahahahahahahahahahahahaa! :Giggle
Thanks for a great day :)

Had a brilliant day, people were right not even the rain could dampen the mood! Brooklands had some good exhibitions but best area was definitely MRC area!
Did not expect to win a trophy so that was truly ace, and always great to see you all :D

I like it! :Thumbs-up
There was a really good yellow / red / blue shot from behind the MRC gazebo but Neil was waiting for it to stop raining - and it didn\'t.
Greg - I thought you were GregR3 because you had an R3? :xconfused
I do have an R3 too, a sunlight silver one! I am paying more attention to the FC of late though.
Ann - Seeing your car today made me want to wrap mine! It\'s a lovely example, great colour!
Thanks Greg - sorry I didn\'t get a chance to meet / chat with you, took shelter in MB World most of the time!
Wow, who in MRC ows W.T.O.L Harrier??? ;)
That yellow FD is looking angry. :) And that red FB looks nice too :)

Clive after all it wasn\'t a Rotary, I just wanted to park as close to the entrance as possible, but maybe some day a 16X would fit.
We all enjoyed, despite the weather, the various rotarys, and of course the new bus museum. We hope some of you can make it, to visit our Rotarystockevent on the 7th of July. Clive and Lisa visited us back in 2011.
Did have a good trip back to Holland with lots of showers. Will see most of you at some event, usually Santa Pod.
Regards,
Kees
You could easily get a couple of rotors in the boot :Giggle
Hi all, thanks to Lisa and Clive for another great show as the start of the season.
Pity about the weather, but as usual there is always something to do and see at this venue.
Great to meet up with you all and welcome to the new attendees.
A few pictures of the day;
And some more;
Great shots Chris - pinching the two yellow / red / blue ones that we missed! :Thumbs-up
Some great pics there guys really wish I could have made it and glad you had a good turn out and day despite the weather.
:Thumbsup! Well done to everyone who won a trophy.
Great pics folks :yes
Really sorry the clash of dates prevented a lot of the "regulars" from attending this year but pleased there was a good turnout and relieved to learn there will be another event at Brooklands in 2014 :Thumbs-up
Hi everyone.
I am completely new here but I attended the show at Brooklands (in the silver RX-8) and just wanted to thank the organisers and share with you all a couple of photos I took. I only bought my car two weeks ago, and coming from the Classic Mini scene, it was great to see the sorts of cars you get in Rotary circles. The weather could have been better, but it didn\'t ruin the day. We had a great time.
I hope you like the photos!

Welcome to MRC and thankyou for coming along yesterday :Thumbs-up
Was good to meet you :)
Good to meet everyone and Brooklands is always great, whatever the weather.
Brett, I tried to do a vid of you leaving but since I dropped my phone the video has seemed to stop working and so better luck next time.
Keith
So my subtle exit off site was wasted? :p
Sorry I missed this :( ,but hopefully will be able to make 2014 :)
Quote from: Brett;853777So my subtle exit off site was wasted? :p
Wasn\'t wasted, we did hear it near Mercedes world. No SLR couldn\'t match that sound!!:Laugh
As this years date was so hard to get, I thought we had lost this wonderful venue where we have been the only Japanese Club allowed to hold an event, but I have told Brooklands that next year we will host the event as a "Mazda Day" rather than just for our Rotarys.
This is because I am very conscious that Brooklands needs people through the gates to survive, however this has resulted in MRC already being given a date for next year which will be an easy one to remember June 1st 2014
Based on two other Mazda events please don\'t view this as a negative because you will find that our Rotarys will gain an awful lot of interest and you will be surprised how many normal Mazda enthusiasts have never seen many of our great cars in the flesh so this should be an excellent promotional event for Rotarys in general.
This means the Spring Rotorshow is dead but long live the Brooklands Mazda Day :cool
Fantastic news :)
Are we going to try and keep a Spring gathering of some sort?
Are we going to try and keep a Spring gathering of some sort?
What about a casual meet - somewhere like Gaydon or Duxford
or a spring \'run\', head to or meet somewhere ?
Shame I missed the last Spring meet at Brooklands then - seems to have been a landmark. Slight case of being full of cold and having no car yet :2Rolleyes
Seemed strange to have a Prof free Brooklands! :(
I wonder if a meet up or run to this: http://motorsportatthepalace.co.uk/ would be good next year? :)

About the only pic I took, of the evocative banking. Amazing to think of people wrestling aero-engined racing cars here at 100mph+. Not as steep as Monza, but the bowl shape and the width makes it feel great.

Bit of a shame we (obviously) can\'t have a trackday here, but it\'s great we could gather our rotaries on such storied ground, and well done to the club leaders for securing another event next year :Thumbsup!

Do love it in there. Epecially when they have there opendays and you get the f1 cars tearing it up.
