Hiya,
I know at least one of you out there is probably in the ICE trade, and most of must know more about it than me, soI\'m after some advice please....
I have Infinity Kappa 6x9\'s in the back and need an amplifier that can properly drive it.
I believe the power is 110w rms (4 ohms)
Don\'t know if the rest of the system makes any difference, but...
Infinity reference series components in the doors,
New Sony CDX-F7700 head unit
Sony 10 disc changer
Hifonics Hawk amp (2x50w) currently driving the Kappa\'s.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers
If you dont mind losing your front/rear balance you can connect both the front speakers and the 6x9\'s to a 2 channel amp, or keep all your fade options and get a 4 channel amp.
A 2 channel amp knocking out 2 x 100w RMS would be fine.
A 4 channel amp knocking out 4 x 75w RMS would be better.
im running a alpine v12 4/3/2 channel amp and the sound quality and power from it is excellent .with the 4/3/2 channels gives u plenty of options as how u set it up
I was thinking I could keep the front set on the head unit output,
as the higher frequencies are fine (about 40w I think).
But use a amp to power the larger speakers for that all important oooooopppmmmmmhhhhh!
Don\'t really want to go down the subwoofer route as I often need the space.
do you have 6x9\'s in the shelf, or have you squeesed them in the original rear positions?
If you amplify your front speakers you will notice a huge difference in sound quality, but its up to you.
Im not a fan of 6x9\'s, especially in the setup you have, but as you say, they do have a lot of ooomph!!!
A 2 channel 75w RMS amp will provide those 6c9\'s with a lot of power and the amp wont cost too much.
