Title: Under-seal
Post by: Mir on January 26, 2013, 12:41:15 AM
What is the best material for under-sealing our cars? My car is going to the paint shop for the installation of my feed bumper, so whilst its there, I thought I might as well get it re-under-seal again.

I am a fussy man when it comes to my car:bandit :King. So please suggest only the best stuff:Thumbsup!

Bilt Hamber and Waxoyl are generally pretty good.  All of them want reapplying every couple of years though.

i have recently done under some of mine and i used Tetrosyl Shultz

Sprayed it on using the compressor , looks really nice to be honest but not sure how good it actually is ??

It stays soft-ish to the touch , so if stones hit it , it wont crack etc..

If you can , then i would rub the underside to get all the loose stuff off , if you end up back to metal in places then apply paintable seam sealer on ( now that stuff is THICK ) then spray over the top with sealer

Thats jsut my 2p worth , it may or not be right !

My rx4 has no underseal, hate the damn stuff. I have painted it with red oxide primer and metal paint fence, 15 year garentee proctection. Super strong stuff.

But I did strip my car back to bare shell:(:)

All advises are welcome :)

I don\'t mind walking extra miles as long I get what I want :). If possible, please add links of the products as you recommend them, this would make it easy for me to research on them:)-I know it\'s pure laziness but, then again, I am lazy :p

I find this is the stuff to use.

Paint and spray on waxoil, although good will open up/crack eventually letting in what your trying to keep out and rust away underneath the outer finish.  Which is why you have to treat it yearly and never seems to completly dry - I did some a few years ago and it will still be on my hands even now (if im working on it). Using the shultz gun and compressor is better,  it\'s also designed to be painted over if you require.

^^ thats what i did , it was £10-12 for the gun and £5.50 for a litre of the spray on stuff

looks really good under the car , i reckon with 3 - 4 cans you can do the entire chassis a good few times

i went a bit mad on mine and put about 6 coats on .. i suppose its not a bad thing really

will check and re-do in the summer though
