Title: Replacing the rear window seal with the window in it?
Post by: The dutchman on January 16, 2013, 08:28:39 AM
Hi guys.
My rear window seal is broken and the bootlid needs a respray. Can i mount the new window seal with the window still in it after it got a respray?
And where\'s the best adress to get a window seal? Here in holland it is around 165 euro....:yes

mate i have just spent out after the previous owner did a bad job on the rear screen for a paint job.,
spend the money get it done properly.

i went to a private vehicle glazier who removed the screen cleaned out all the :censored::censored::censored::censored:e and then resealed it all and replaced for £50

do it properly now or it will just leak like a sieve, its a common problem so not worth short cutting on

just re read your post and it makes sense now, your on about the beading right? not the seal, the rear windows in a fd are bonded in with a glazing seal (like a glue) and have 4 locating screws. the beading is simply a extra security measure to keep it in place and protect from water etc.
if its the beading only you want to replace after a respray that is fine
