Title: My first FD
Post by: Gonzo12c on January 05, 2013, 04:16:17 PM
Hi folks Marty here.

Just picked up my first FD yesterday as it is a cari have always wanted to own.  Had nissans for the last few and still have 3 x 300zx\'s all short wheel base.  Or is going track/drag with high end bhp, one shorty manual twin turbo that is my fun car and one that I\'m breaking.  Also got a 954 fireblade bike so I like my fast cars and bikes.

Picked the FD up yesterday as a rolling shell and plan to put a 13b in her then get her out on the road for the summer.  At the moment as I\'m aware I need engine, box and ecu.  I\'m sure there is more and I\'m sure this forum will have plenty of advise and help as although I have no experience on FD\'s I\'m a mechanic by trade.

Have plenty of receipts with this car for things like koni adjustables, exhaust and various other bits.

Here are some pics anyway.

There are a few points that I need to try get answers for straight off.

In the engine bay pic there is a few box lid.  Where is this fuse box and is it missing?

Where are my battery cables as I don\'t see any? Where does the neg bolt to on the chassis?

What can be deleted/moved in the engine bay to tidy it up and Mae it easier to work in as I like my tidy engine bays as I have done with my Zeds.  I see the air con hoses have been cut below the battery tray so this will all be coming out.

I think that will do for now thanks folks :)

Nice project and welcome. Looks like that was an auto so you will need a few more parts like prop shafts diff flanges a bit of work to modify looms etc. good project.

Someone must have already converted it,, your lucky it defo used to be an automatic ( even still has the climate and cruise control,, nice!),,

you are correct there looks a fuse box missing with all the power wires for battery alternator ect.

Check the sticker in the driver side door.  Chances are its a Touring X model which was available in manual hence the sunroof and cruise controls etc

See all of this type of stuff I know on my Zeds :D

Panel says 4AEC-AT on transmission so I guess it was an auto at one point.  Can\'t see touring x on there though which bit would that be under?

Yeah would have started life as an Auto then.  Model version is in the bottom right corner from memory under "Type?"
