Title: Cooling problem Help Please!!!
Post by: parnell229 on December 19, 2012, 07:04:06 PM
OK so long story short, my old radiator burst during a drift day.

I have now fitted a driftworks ally rad and it doesnt come with the AST take off so i ordered one of these RX-7 FD AST REMOVAL FILLER NECK (http://www.mazdarotaryparts.com/b-rx-7-fd-ast-removal-filler-neckb-1360-p.asp)

I now have everything done and back together but the add coolant light/ buzzer is going off once it seems to be getting at temperature and it just seems to be getting very hot in general.

The alloy rad is becoming hot the fans are kicking in, the oil coolers at the front are getting hot and the radiator hoses seem to be still holding a lot of pressure when switched off.

the a/c radiator infront has burst aswell but I havent done anything with it, would this affect it ?

Anyone have any ideas about this or things i could try ?

Thanks

My aftermarket rad didnt have the bit on it for the ast, i just drilled a hole in it, tapped it then tapped a bit of  pipe, bit of thread tape job done

after flushing the system again it seems ok, would a airlock cause the coolant light/buzzer to come on ?

Yes it would, i would check the level 3-4 times after you shut it off then gone cold to make sure

Someone here lost his engine and then broke his car in pieces due to faulty installation of a RAD! Please get this checked by a specialist and don\'t play with heat, as Rotaries are not fan of heat.

Just my 2p.

Edit: Hayward Rotary is your best bet!

yes airlocks will cause the buzzer to go off. just keep warming the car up and top up the water, carry a bottle of water in the car with you until it stop doing it just incase.
