Title: Help identifying 2 engine bay wires.
Post by: Buhl on November 13, 2012, 04:06:27 PM
Hello all.

Found these 2 unplugged in my engine bay. (FD3S 92" from Japan)

The first one hang at the spark plug side of the engine bay, its BROWN - White striped with blue dots.

The second one is a single wire, seems to be white - with yellow plastic in the plug. its located right above the front engine cover, almost under the big plastic vaccum champer thing.

The only error i got on the car is that my Water level sensor lamp is always on. Is any off the wires related to it? Since i really wanna fix that bug!!

I read on a forum once, long time ago that the brown should be grounded, but can´t find the thread anymore :(

Hope anyone can help! :)

Cheers Anders.

the one in the last pic im pretty sure is where the knock sensor gets pluged into (you should find it screwed into the spark plug face of the front rotor housing)

the other wire is either for aircon/pas/water level sensor

The brown one goes up to one off the 2 big gray plugs. - Ill look for a connector in that area Dave.

Can anyone off you tell me what the second plug (the one with the yellow in it) shall go to from there? Since this is no lose wires in that area i can see, and it (the plug) can´t move more then a few milimeters.

Should i be able to get a connection beteween the water level sensor wire and this plug? If it is for the water level sensor?

Thanks so far! :)

As Davehg said, the second one is definately for the knock sensor which is located on one of the housings, I think the front, next to the spark plug holes.
The sensor, if still fitted, has a long wire coming out of it which reaches that plug.
