Title: Wanted,,, anyone got a set of bnr stage 3s

Yes i seen them but dunno about his price,,, i could send my turbos to BNR have them converted sent back ,, taxes shipping ect and save 3/4 hundread quid,, so not sure where he getting that price.
They come up on the USA RX7 club every now and then for about $1000, would be nice to pick up a good 2nd hand set of BNR or knightsports.

Starting to thinking about going single plenty of people selling single turbo kits for half the price of BNR turbos.

Hi Tiger,

As mentioned in my for sale thread, you are more then welcome to negotiate the price with me via mail! -> patrick.reiter.fzt06[at]fh-joanneum.at

for the single vs. twin discussion: it really depends on what you build the car for.
There is not any single out there which can beat the response of a well done bnr stage3 setup in full sequential mode and 450rwhp ;)
I think this is the ultimate turbo for a street/autoX/autoslalom/HPDE car. You have all the "luxury" of a stock fd, but it has 450rwhp and will be emission legal!

I\'m only thinking about selling these because my car will never see the streets again ;)

as for the discussion between knightsports and bnr... the bnr\'s have the more modern turbine geometry, are rebuildable, well known and MUCH cheaper as a knightsports setup. It\'s a total nobrainer...

was to slow to edit my first post, so here as addon:

also, I want to chime in into the discussion of costs of a single turbo vs. upgraded twins.

A well done single turbo setup with a GOOD turbo (gtx3582r with T4 footprint and divided runners, A/R 1.06), GOOD heat management (fully ceramic coated or inconel heat shields), TRUE twin scroll manifold with 2 seperate wastegate runners, watercooled twin tial wastegates, cermic coating, 3.5inch downpipe, custom 3.5-4.0inch exhaust system, fittings, lines etc. will bump you EASILY up in the region of 4000gbp minimum.
Ask me how i know, that\'s the setup I consider if i can sell my bnr setup ;)
of course you can also go journal bearing td61 and get the same power, but without proper heat management, with :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty spooling and :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty powerband ;)

or a used HKS T04e setup. With :censored::censored::censored::censored:ty manifold, poor wastegate design, high exhaust backpressure in the manifold because of the exhaust A/R and trim...

all of these mentioned setups will bring the car from A to B, the question is what you really want. A half assed beater or a well engineered car?

just my 0.02€

sorry for the 3. post and spamming down this thread, but i have to comment this:

Quote from: tiger18;841394Yes i seen them but dunno about his price,,, i could send my turbos to BNR have them converted sent back ,, taxes shipping ect and save 3/4 hundread quid

It looks like you\'ve never imported something from outside the EU.
Take the price of the item(s), add shipping costs to the UK, take this sum and multiply by 1.05 (5% import duty), take this sum and multiply by 1.20 (20% VAT) = the final price.

Lets do this for the BNR\'s

2100 for the modification, 400dollar for the good core, 200dollar to send this stuff to bryan, 200dollar to send this stuff to the europe = 2900 USD
Multiply by 1.05 = 3045 USD
Multiply by 1.20 = 3654 USD
3654 USD equals currently 2300GBP

I\'m down currently to 2100gbp for the bnr\'s.

So, how in the world you can save 3 to 400 GBP? ;) I\'m not sure where YOU getting your price :)
My calculations for shipping costs are also very low in my example, because I\'ve done several items at once to save individual shipping. You will not get them shipped over from the US for 200USD.

Here is further informationf or you how to calculate taxes on improted stuff:

You obviously dont look at the for sale section, you can buy a good single turbo rx7 for that money these days and that is the whole car.

Whilst you will of course defend your advertised price, regardless of condition, import rates etc etc unfortunately for you, there are plenty of good quality single turbo kits available for half what you are asking, it doesnt take a genius to work out, no matter your points of discussion, what most people will go for!

I would rather not enter a big debate, but you pointing out some points of interest as to why these are still for sale and glwts :)

I\'m totaly with you, I\'ve stated this with

Quoteall of these mentioned setups will bring the car from A to B, the question is what you really want. A half assed beater or a well engineered car?

It all depends on the personal goals an owner of a car has ;)
I\'m the type of person who will never use a journal bearing, single wastegate, non twinscroll single :) But that\'s just my opinion ;) I like engineering, and I like the way mazda did the full sequential twins back the days. Therefore I also like the achievement of Bryan to develop a nice full sequential setup ;)

As sad, a multi-thousand € setup will bring you from A to B, but so does a used 2000€ setup :)

And yes, I look at the for sale sections often ;) But I would never buy a used single setup :P

I also don\'t want go to deep into the single vs. twin discussion, I just would let people know that the price of my set of bnr\'s isn\'t a brain fart, it\'s reality if you buy new parts ;)

To put the price of these BNRs in perspective, a set of 99 twins from Yahoo Japan is going to set you back £1000 + JP handling costs + shipping costs + UK Handling costs + VAT + Duty, so probably £1600 or so delivered to your door.

500 more for an upgraded set aint half bad.

Some interesting points in this thread as someone who likes the original twins (pre 99 spec) and has a standard exhaust system / stock intercooler etc..

I have also been considering if I should just leave the car as is, go BNR uprated twins or convert to single turbo set up at some stage.

Yes you can buy a pre-converted car, trouble is - I find many of the single turbo cars I\'ve seen may not have the best set up for street. Some have massive turbo\'s which are no good for the roads in Ireland (not sure about UK) but even with stock twins my car is plenty fast.

If anyone has ever bought anything into the UK / EU from outside you\'ll soon realise the listed price on a website is often far cheaper than what you actually pay with shipping + tax etc..

I paid around 400GBP for a 99 spec bumper skin (only!) new from Mazda to give an idea.

I would imagine a good single turbo vs a poor single turbo set up would be like night and day in terms of the way the car drives.

I\'ve also considered buying a converted single turbo FD but often the bodywork looks appalling (not a fan of body kits on FD\'s to be honest) so your going to have to invest 2-3k in bodywork to return it to standard and repaint it.

So I guess it all comes back to preference, what do you want from your car? The BNR\'s are good value for money as far as I can tell.

Here are some links to Knightsport twins (converted to non seq)

I can guarantee that the set is unused, undamaged and complete, for warranty purposes you have to deal with the manufacturer, Bryan.

This guy is a standup guy with a very good reputation and a very well known business, IF there are problems (which are not) he definitely will help the new owner.

Are you a little upset because I\'ve told you the reality that used journal bearing single turbo setups with ebay manifolds and ebay wastegates are worth nothing because... erm... they are :censored::censored::censored::censored:? ;)

Looks like you are a serious internet-troll ;)

There are quite a few, but depends on your definition of good, at that price they will need some attention, whether that\'s bodywork or some fettling to get the most out of the single, fuelling mods, intercooler perhaps. I  bought mine for a bit over £4k.

There have been two very nice streetable turbo kits sell recently, at a grand ish and also new ones available for just over £2k from a well respected advertiser on here.

The talk of streetable is an argument in itself, define steetable, its individual. Most people change from twins for simplification of the rats nest (reliability) and easier increases in power,  if you want truly streetable, stick with your twins, they get good hp :)

A perfect example for you though

Yeah I saw that and was tempted alright. The parts alone are more than the sum of that price. Problem is it just needs that bit extra to finish it off and for me that makes it an unknown quantity.

For me to buy that car

4k asking price
+ 1K to register on Irish roads + road tax (130 p/year)
+ 1K (rough estimate to finish off and get professionally tuned - maybe new wastegate?)

Then the bodywork...
It looks a bit rough alright, being a UK car worries me a little with regard to rust..

A couple more thousand to get repainted...

So really it\'s a 7-8K car at best - maybe more if it\'s been sitting in terms of brakes suspension etc...

Well for sure, what do you expect for £4k :Giggle I was only making a point that you can buy a complete good single turbo (i.e steetable and well proven actual turbo) car in reference to bold claims a single turbo kit will cost £4k.

Just because you might pay more for a car does not mean your getting more for you money. The truth is these days the cars and parts we\'re interested in aren\'t worth much and you can get a lot of car for not a lot. Iv said this before and I will say it again, you can spend 10,000 on an rx7 and have 500hp with a 2 year warrenty on the engine so why would anyone spend that much or close too it on a car that might die at the end of the previous owners street?

As for the price on the BNRs... If you want to sell them then either drop the price a bit or keep hold of them until somebody who has a lot of cash and not much knowledge wants to buy them as in my eyes they aren\'t worth that. There are better things to be had for that kind of cash.

GLWTS
