Post by: DSMER_AK on November 02, 2012, 12:51:47 AM
Hey y\'all I\'m new to the rotary club i currently have a Dsm an I\'m a member of dsmtuners too.
I recently came across a 1971 mazda rx-2 coup the body is perfect, the interior is gone just a driver seat basically, I\'m more of an oem kind of guy as far as appearance goes would these interior parts be hard to find mind you I\'m in Anchorage, AK so shipping can be a pain sometimes.
The guy is asking $1000 for it clean title I do have pictures of the car but I don\'t see where to upload them at right now, I don\'t see any of these older mazda\'s riding around here some older rx-7\'s maybe but not many.
Thanks for any responses.

Wow, an RX-2!  I\'m not sure I\'ve ever seen one of those in the metal here in the UK.

I would guess that finding ALL the interior parts is going to be a major challenge unless you can find perhaps another rusty car with a complete interior to use as a donor.

Another place that may be worth asking is http://japanesenostalgiccar.com/forum/

Welcome to MRC :wave

The older Rx\'s are very scarce in the UK, (well they not exactly common anywhere else either, lol) so if you need to look for spares then it might be slim pickings over here.

Either way, buy it and show us lots and lots of pictures :D

I got a chance to look at the rx-2 again today it actually has a roll cage in the backseat so I\'m definitely going to buy it I\'m not as worried about the interior now, so I think I\'m going to turn it into a street/strip car because I\'m not taking the roll cage out.

Body is in good shape seen some surface rust around different areas I don\'t know the specific year on it I\'m thinking a 1971 not sure though.

So i finally got some more info on the rx-2 I\'ll be buyng it and taking it home on the first of February, basically the owner said it runs and drives, but there is something that needs to be adjusted with carb he said that it doesn\'t like mid throttle either ease into it or WOT I\'m hoping someone with a better knowledge of these carbureted rotary engines could give me some good info, Also apparently when the car was be towed as it came of the tow truck the fuel tank scrape the ground and damaged it, I haven\'t seen what kind of damage it caused but they put a 2 gallon fuel cell in the car to run it down the drag track. thanks for any responses
