I\'m in a bit of a pickle. I want to get back into riding my trials bike. The only problem is I need to use my Mrs\'s car to tow it about with. This mean that when I\'m out she is stuck in with the kids if it is wet out. So I would need another car for her to drive whilst I\'m out on my bike. I don\'t have the room or the money for 3 cars so I would need to sell the FC to fund the new car. I\'d say the REX is worth 2-3K so what would you guys or gals buy with the money? It has to be something fun, RWD ;) and can take the Mrs\'s (she wont drive the FC even if I would let her!) with 2 kids.
Disclamer!!! I am only thinking about this and am not putting the FC up for sale yet so don\'t shoot me down :)

If it was me it would have to be some kind of BMW. I loved E36 328 Touring. It was quick, fun and spacious. I havent looked in ages but im guessing you could get an E46 for that budget, but for me I always preferred the 36 and so you could get a very nice one for that money.
A lot were recalled as well due to the Nikasil issues at one point so (like in the one I had) it had basically had a new bottom end from 60k.
Can you not put a towbar on the FC?? :)
Mark
I have seen one FC with a tow bar. iirc the owner used it for his boat!!!!!!!!!
Good shout on the BMW I have thought of these.

A BMW would be the obvious choice, although you could go for an E39 5 series, There are 530is with less that 80k on the clock for £3k, a lot of car for not a lot of money.
what about a older 730 / 740
Nice V8 engine , RWD etc..
Oh god I\'m having silly thoughts about a big V8 pick up!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats not a silly thought mate
i didnt realise you were into trials bike riding
its something i have always fancied having a go at ( hint hint )
Your welcome to have a ride any time mate. Just got to find some land I can take it too to practice. Its a bit crap when the only time you can practice is at an actual trial.

V8 pick up. I like the juxtaposition of that as a replacement for an RX7.
Well the thing is, I don\'t think I\'d be completely happy with something that is bought as a replacement for the Rex. So my thinking is maybe I should go mad and have something completely different that isn\'t trying to be a Rex. I did used to enjoy having a off-roader in the house a few years back.
Some kind of lexus?
Or a monaro ;)
As Mr. Martin says - look at an IS300 estate... they are quite rare but starting to appear within your budget.
The other, and frankly best choices would be either a Subaru Outback or a Subaru Forester.
Personal preference would be the Outback - either version is good (be it the 2.5 or 3L) and there are so many to choose from in your price bracket.
Did I mention the Outbacks are ace? We\'ve been running them for about 10 years now with no real issues.

I have done a few greenlane days with my mate , and i like the idea of doing 5-6 miles at only 3 MPH :D
Lexus IS300 2JZ no S**T!
Alternatively, V8 Land Rover pickup.

I\'d have a Monaro tomorrow. Only they are a tad over budget. Lexus is an option but maybe one of the smaller ones as the Mrs\'s wouldn\'t want the 300 cause its too big!
Eh. £7.5k get a loan son, you know it makes sence.
