Title: starting with the gas pedal down
Post by: michaelb on October 26, 2012, 07:45:45 PM
I flooded the RX7 twice this year and started to start the car with the gas pedal down.
I noticed that the car starts much better and after around 2 seconds of the pedal down it really fires up in a split of a second
How long is it before the petrol gets injected with the pedal down and if it doesn’t then why the car starts with the pedal down..
It may be a silly question but the curiosity is killing me to know the exact mechanics of the RX7 starting with the gas pedal down.
The RX is still twin turbo but with nice supporting mods, some porting done and Apexi ECU

im sure with the pedal fully down it cuts the fuel pump ( or similar ) - so when you are starting it - it uses the fuel in the engine and the lines

i think thats how the FC does it - so i assume the FD is similar ?

it doesnt cut the fuel pump... it will lag the injectors. Most EFI cars do this to prevent flooding from occurring.
