Title: ECU tachometer pulses
Post by: Brett on October 25, 2012, 05:55:39 PM
How many pulses per rev does the ECU output on a 92 spec Apexi?  (Presume the same as the 92 spec FD...but I don\'t know what that is either!)

  :wiggle

It will be the same for any 13B

This site had a good explanation:

http://www.teamfc3s.org/info/articles/demystifying.html

but seems to be down for maintenance.

From memory, the rotor turns ar 1/3 shaft speed, but the rotors fire at 180 degrees of shaft rotation, as you have 3 events per rotor (3 faces), 2 rotors (because the apex and faces are offset by 120 degrees), but 1/3 the number due to gearing, giving 3*2/3 = 2

The other way to tell, is the CAS sensor has only 2 teath on the cog for firing events, the other sensor is for crank angle.
