Title: >>.Initial-D FD3S Completed after some probs!
Post by: Initial-D on July 17, 2004, 10:25:29 PM
Well after what seems like an age it\'s finally complete (well minus a quick dust and polish).

Sorry to J4PRX for missing the D1, and also to Shin as all was going to plan until yesterday/thismorning!!

Yesterday I got the wheels fresh from Japan and proceeded to get them fitted - obsticle no 1 - waiting 3 hours before getting them on! Then fiddling with the coilovers for height - unfortunatly not enough time to get it right so it was left on the low side. Scraping my way back home my car decided to get very hot and cut out! (no coolant buzzer either)!

So pull over and open the bonnet to discover my AST tank had a tube that had popped off spitting steam everywhere! Next prob was getting some coolant - So another 45mins wait for the RAC to bring me some - after using nearly half his supply of coolant I turned the key and she fired up fine - phew!!:o

Drove back home to affix my vinyls. Then aftr getting up at 6am this morning I started putting all my interior back in... and finished at 9am when Banzaigang rolled up to go off to Silverstone, so off we went....

Then horror or horrors every lump bump and 10mph corner caused extreme rubbing - so much that it pulled the steering!  Looking under the arches revealed molton tire! Down to the extra weight of the interior and my fat bro and the suspension settling over night!

So unfortunatly I had to turn back before my car ate all the rubber! Surfice to say I\'ve now had it heightened and I can now actully turn corners without rubbing :D

But it all came to late and I missed out on the show at Silverstone - Sorry guys!!

Here\'s some pics of my car as it would\'ve looked at the show!!

Hiya, thanks for the comments:cool

Front nose is a FEED type 2 with optional CF canards - the lighst are smoked 99 spec. The other Feed type 2 R has the two lower lips joined and it arcs up slightly in the centre.

Still can\'t believe I missed out on Silverstone! But I\'ll be at JAE next weekend for sure!!:D

Race eh Gman?! I\'ll see you at McD\'s on Sat!! ;)

Only one question

What offset are the rears.

They look a little wrong to me.

That\'s lovely Ben, seems like Miguel has some competition! Been waiting to see how this would all turn out after you updated us a couple of weeks ago...certainly didn\'t disappoint!

I can see now what you meant about the rainbow metallic interior...talk about unique!

By the way, what do the decals say?

Can I ask a few questions as a complete novice to both the site and the Mazda RX 7, I am looking at selling my BMW Mini One and buying a third Gen REX. A comment by Initial D has made me think.
I am going to have to run it as my main car but you have said that you would not take yours out in the rain why is that?

Also if you dont mind answering this one what was the complete cost of your car? If it was a bit rude asking that question i apologise already.

Cheers

Matt ( the Newbie)
see you at Billing Aquadrome 25th of July!!!!

more of a RWD thing in a put yer foot down in rain rear wheel spin say hello crash barrier, at least that\'s wot happens to sum poor souls but nothing to necessarily have to avoid which a bit of common sense, good rubber, good driving & restraint wont help.........
So dont be totally scared off but do respect the power & the more powerful the more of a hand or foot full i guess.......

Mate, I\'m loving that underbody diffuser thing! Who makes it and where can I get one??!!

The rears are 10J 18"+22. The offset is the same as on Imamura\'s D1 car. Definatly 18\'s just the deep dish and chrome make em look bigger!

I had the arches rolled but still need more arch!

I want to get some RE Amemiya rear fender flares on the back but I\'m having trouble getting em! Suggestions for quick delivery anyone?

I\'m not an avid fan of RWD in the rain as the rear can step out if your a bit heavy footed coming off roundabouts (as I learnt to my cost)! Also if you just cleaned the car it\'ll get all dirty especially my rear diffuser (RE Amemiya FRP Pro version) which doubles up as an excellent stone collector!! :p

Cost so far on my car well erm, I\'ve spent about 12K I think now! ;)

Dude,

+20 is what Im after for the wide body kit.
Which will still run thin,

You will definately need to fatten the rear.

Immamura\'s D1 car has widened rear arcehes. Now also Wide body kit.

Dont worry about fd in the wet, Just learn to drive.
Fd is still one of the best handling cars around.

go and do a driving course. practice in the rain. drive a lot.
Dont just show the car. DRIVE it.

Russ.

That\'s why I want some Re Amemiya rear arch fenders - I feel most of the wide bodys alter the lines of the car to much.

I agree with ya driving regardless of weather - just a bugger to keep it clean thats all!!

I\'ll have to get my arches rolled some more and then flarred if I can\'t get any RE A bits.  You got any bigger pics of em or the Feed ones by chance?

I love the car, rear diffuser is deffinatly on my wish list!

Matt, dont worry about the FD int he wet, I use mine as my everyday car, can have soem great fun if your in the drifter mood, just be carefull exiting corners and roundabouts.
