so this year i have used the fd less than ever what with a young family and a small business ive missed so many meets and track days its gutting. and with all the upgrades ive done to the car this year i just cant spare the time for the rx7 anymore.
so with the market so dead it looks like i will have to put this on pistonheads and ebay aswell as the usual forums but what should i ask and what should i expect to get. and before anyone asks im not breaking it :)

was recently mapped and setup by jaydee.
2 weeks ago had full 4 wheel alignment to fast road/track settings
after having an issue last year with noise levels at castle coombe i fitted the brand new feed silence cat back which runs below 95db this means the car is currently setup and running around 450fwhp with the 550 primary injectors for decent cruising and maners around town. with the current turbo setup though this is a 500bhp+ (see the turbo link above) setup that would only require a louder free flowing exhaust the 850cc primaries putting back in (these will come with the car) and to be safe a 3 bar map sensor with water inj
this is a very sorted car with just the usual tinkering that these cars need.
i will also be chucking in some spares which include 2 diffuser one re a pro and one re a street both copies i just havent got round to fitting
heres some pics

and if anyone has a nice porsche cayman s they want to get rid of i will happily trade this against it :)
very nice 7 there
^^^ i was thinking that , its very nice :D
i would say get it up for sale for 6500 but dont expect much more than 5500 as people want a lot for nothing. only way your going to make money would be to break it

even in todays market for this spec of 7 that is give a away price
just so you are aware to import a full original re a gt kit is around £2.5k plus duties and delivery
the triple plate carbonetics clutch is over £2k on its own
the turbo kit is around £2.5k
now i know you cant expect to get anywhere near original money for these itmes but im just showing you the type of spec this car is
yep but if you have to sell it then to sell it quick you got to price it right. if you want the right money then your going to have to wait to sell it.
in reality you could buy a car with blown engine for close to a grand and for another 6-8 grand have a 500+ car with a 2 year warrenty
As much as it pains me to say it the only way youll get anywhere near a reasonable price is to break it.
Unfortunately nobody wants to spend the money for decent versions of these cars anymore which is the only thing stopping me from selling mine.
They seem to be content with buying cheap crap for 2k then blame it on the fact its a rotary when stuff goes wrong.

your right :Thumbs-up
Got to say mate.....your car is totally stunning and a real credit to you !
you could not build a car to the same spec as mine for 8k on top of a blown motor. you would prob have to make that closer to 15k on it.
im not sure of your maths anyway
isnt a warrantied ported engine 3k minimum these days
triple plate clutch 2k
2nd hand decent turbo kit 1.2k
un painted cheap copy of this bodykit is over £1200 but needs hours and hours of fitting and mods to make it even close to an original plus paint
full decent ohlins setup min of £600
2nd hand ksport front brakes with decent pads is £700
bonnet £500
rz rear brakes £300
thats nearly 10k there without everything else this car has.
unfortunatley you seem to be of the opinion that you can do an rx7 properly on the cheap but there is a difference between PROPERLY and CHEAP and this car was done properly
Quote from: 787b;838262your right :Thumbs-up
i know, im always right even when im wrong im right, because i still could have been right
mate your fd is awesome and has proper parts on it ,the problem is the market is dead and prices have come down and people are still not buying,
for example if you had your car up at let say £9995 you could be lucky and get that amount depends on who is buying , but its down to luck most people will look at the same stuff for sale on here and fduk ebay etc and if its cheaper they will go for something else most of the time, alot of cars have come down in price
a well spec single turbo could go between £6000 to £8000 these days
twins can be picked up from £3000 to £8000
you could break car and make alot more but it all depends .
as mentioned before put a price you think its worth and see what happens you could get want you want for it or you could be waiting a long time or it could sell straight away its all down to who is buying and where its advertised.:Thumbs-up
keep it, wot else u guna do for fun? tried to sell mine but its too depressing and its silly to give it away.
Ohlins, Ksport, Greddy... no question, that\'s a lot of high-end parts and it would cost a bomb to build another car up to the same spec.
The thing is, it\'s a pretty extreme car
- extreme power (compared to anything normal)
- extreme chassis (coilovers & polybushes - how\'s it like to live with?)
- extreme bodywork (front canards and rear wing are visually pretty OTT, albeit they could shave seconds from laptimes)
- extreme running costs
So you\'re looking for someone who
wants a very serious performance car,
AND wants a rotary,
AND likes your particular bodykit,
AND has £8-10k to spend on a \'toy\' (plus money for fuel, parts etc).
- how many people like that are there around ?
It would make sense for someone with a more standard FD, who wanted a 500hp trackday car, to trade up to yours rather than totally overhauling their own car. However, people tend to tune their own car rather than doing that, regardless of financial logic.
I guess such a person might be able to sell their own car for £4-5k, so you might get £7-8k for your car ?
For the best price, I suggest
- I guess the suspension is adjusted to max ride height in the pics? Get it wound down so it looks good and get some more pics.
- Much better, and more, pics. Think about how magazines feature cars, shots showing off all the expensive parts, etc - make yours look like a mag feature, even if you can\'t get one.
- Rolling road run showing 500bhp+, along with torque, AFR. If you\'re asking someone to spend big money, you need to prove the numbers, not just talk about \'capable of\'.
- Recent compression test (obv)

the car is setup for fast road as well as track hence keeping the ride height at a decent height, there is much more adjustment up or down if wanted.
when i sell it i will be getting more pics done this is just for opinions
i wont run it to 500bhp as thats not my aim but giving people the info that the setup is ready for that makes sense to me
comp test is a given
the car is extreme which is what most people wanting an rx7 are looking for this is the upper end of the scale which as anyone doing and rx7 properly doesnt come cheap.
Everything you say is true, but I still think that showing the car off with the wheels filling the arches and a RR printout showing 400-something hp will help it sell.
One more thing that might attract ppl would be if you have any good videos from your trackdays.
This thread shows the experience of someone trying to sell a somewhat similar spec car, note the first post from June and the continually descending asking price:
http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76336
this is where it is difficult putting a price on one of these. although the car you have linked is v v nice and in some areas the spec is close. mine is fitted with a full aspec turbo kit that retails for over 3500 dollars where as his kit is based on an ebay £100 manifold similar but no comparison. my car has 356 mm ksport front brakes and rz rear brakes his are standard so very close in spec overall but putting just those things on that car would cost the owner at least 2k more if he got 2nd hand gear to get to the same quality and spec.
i mean no offence to the other car im just pointing out how a similar looking spec car can easily have several items that are of a different quality or level that can cost thousands and thousands of pounds of pounds difference.
this is why it is difficult to put a price on a car thats spec\'d highly when the market is flooded by other cars that have similar spec or have been done on a budget which wont last long if pushed hard continually.
i think ive probably dug a hole for myself here but im just trying to highlight that whilst i understand why people are quick to put a low value on my car if you actually look at the overall spec no expense has been spared anywhere and everything has been done to keep to every area of the car to handle the performance and power on road and on track.

i think you have a very nice motor with a nice spec and with a very good price to go with it
also forgot
rz diff mounted on poly bushes
gearbox brace (rubber mount type so no noise inside)
b and m quicksift with dm brass collar
Perhaps another place worth advertising it:

GLWS! hope you get a decent price for her.

You have hit the nail on you head yourself there buddy!
You cant compare your car to the one above, the fact they are both singles is really all they have in common. The spec of the car seems immaterial these days, most people see mileage since rebuild (and by who) and hp figures! The one above is barely run in, yours has 15k miles on it.
As someone else pointed out, body kit is circumspect to whether someone likes it, it makes no difference how much it costs and all the other above spec/quality parts you have wont change the value if thats not what someone wants.
As said on the other side buddy, no ones opinion will really be helpful to you, get a for sale thread out and see what offers you have and imho, pay no attention to anyone saying, this is a bargain, wow thats cheap, great spec for that price etc etc, money talks, so only pay attention to the actual offers you get!
Quote from: cyman;838273the car is extreme which is what most people wanting an rx7 are looking for
The last 4 people I talked to who have considered buying one are after standard examples and are put off by the fact that there are a very limited number of standard cars about.
You\'re going to struggle to get anywhere near what you would like it to be worth. When it comes down to it, its a highly inefficient cramped sports car with small market appeal and costs a horrendous amount to run...
SORN it, put it in storage for a while until the market picks up else you will make a massive loss on it.

You haven\'t had many fast cars have you :)
Sadly your going to have it on the market for quite a while until the perfect Buyer pops up, the only other way to do it is return it to a near stock state and sell the aftermarket parts separately but unless you have kept the stock parts it will just become a huge pita. So you are left with either Advertise it for what you think its worth and go through all the time wasters etc until that perfect buyer comes along or break it (unfortunately) but know this the high value parts market is on its arse too at the moment so that may be high risk if you don’t have people lined up for the big stuff. Problem is if you sell as a whole you can forget 50% of the Part Value you put into it as Aftermarket parts are often concidered Dead Money if you leave them on the car, they just make it more desirable over the one next to it on the trader that hasn\'t had 20k spent on in it.
Stick it on pistonheads for 10-12k and it should sell abroad, my mates just went to South Africa for 12k and it was a similar quality build just v8 not rotary and didn`t have a bodykit or uprated brakes/diff etc, there are people who do know what`s worth paying the right money for and are prepared to do that, they just might not be in this country right now :)
i have a plan :)
im going to go and get a comp test before i do anything then i reckon il put it up for £10995 on pistonheads and let it stay there for a while as im in no rush and if i decide to break it i wouldnt do it until it starts to warm up next year anyway. i will put on that i will accept a p/x for any decent standard car as i can always trade it in against the porsche :)
Quote from: Grizzly;838340You haven\'t had many fast cars have you :)
... has nothing to do with anything?
What a thoroughly pointless comment.
The fact of the matter is, people don\'t have that much disposable at the minute. The vast majority of the ones that do are not buying 20 year old highly modified sports cars.
Remember, the entire world does not revolve around one car. Certainly not an RX-7.
