Title: What coolant?
Post by: dom187 on September 17, 2012, 09:10:40 PM
Hi guys, I am quite new to owning a RX7 and I have been looking around trying to find out what coolant I need to buy. I have read somewhere there is a particular type of coolant you must not use in a RX7?

pick one that fits the alloys of aluminum and magnesium, is used on engines delicate and not aggressive for the water seal.
I personally use this. (Arexons Rolin Alusil Yellow), but you can use anything coolant whit the same spec.
(fits the alloys of aluminum and magnesium) ;)
make a mixture of 30/40% coolant

TBh most are Alloy safe nowadays with there own Corrosion Inhibitors (getting rare to see cast iron engines now) but i change it every 2 years, might just be me being paranoid but i was did a test at Collage years ago and old Antifreeze goes Acidic over time which of course isn\'t good.

I tend to use Pre mixed Toyota Glycol based Coolant (because i can get it cheap ;) ) never had an Issue.
