Title: Random smoky exhaust
Post by: L18M on September 16, 2012, 12:04:01 AM
Hi all,

I\'m new to this 2 dorito\'s on a stick business :2Rolleyes
Is it normal for a freshly rebuilt engine to be a bit smoky at times? Mainly when coming upto a stop, still in gear.

The turbo is fine and no play in shaft so dont think is oil leak / seals from turbo.
Gave it a good run to clear the oil from exhaust from when the oil seals went in the block so theres no smoke when normal driving (apart from when slowing to a stop) or it smokes a bit but as im driving i cant see.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

It might just be the assembly oil that is burning off

A couple of really good long runs normaly clears it if it\'s assembly oil or leftover parafin or whatever burning off.

It would probably help to know what colour the smoke is.  It\'s possible it could be oil burning off after dropping back to idle, which might indicate over oiling ?

its a bit grey ish. can def smell oil smoke and see it when the wind blows it forward.

hmm, over oiling. thats a good thing or bad thing? i guess better keep eye on oil level.
another few hundred miles then off for mapping :Laugh
