Title: Brake Lines
Post by: B9 KLF on September 10, 2012, 09:20:19 PM
Question - looking at a car recently and the hard pipe from the flexible to the front caliper appeared to be copper.

Can copper be used or must it be steel?

Other brake lines in the bonnet area etc were definately steel.

Copper is standard for brake lines although you can get stainless steel lines, or indeed nickel plated copper, maybe someone has replaced part of the lines previously with copper

hmm, I must have made a mistake on the metal used in the bonnet area and perhaps it is copper but tarnished and the pipe on the brakes was newly replaced with copper.

Thanks for your response
