My wife has/ had..... Lovely Low mileage Mr2 Roadster that i tastefully modified in my mates bodyshop with side skirts and aftermarket front and rear bumper. Stuck on a set of 17 " Kei Fujis in black and looks really smart.......All mods declared to insurance....
some muppet ran up the back of it and smashed bumper and bumper bar....but also snapped exhaust flexi braid. NOT covered as assessed by engineer as wear and tear......flexi braid is attached to the main cat Ker ching type approval cat!
....despite mods declared only repaired with standard parts..... so they wanted me to pick it up with a blowing exhaust and badly fitted wrong colour standard bumper :Grrr:Grrr:Grrr:Grrr:Grrr
...escalated to complaints dept......apparently it takes 48 hours for them to call you back as there very busy.....I said" I\'m not surprised".:2Rolleyes:2Rolleyes
Thats correct, the car is insured, not the mods, if you don\'t declare the mods though you have no insurance.
Its should be like for like if you have declared all Mods , double check the small print of your policy.
But bad workmanship like a mis matched colour bumper is a defo no no, you are right to reject, tell them you will open a case with the Finacial Obundsman if they dont rectify, is free for you, but costs the insurance company £500 quid if a case is opened against them regardless if they win or lose.
I know because I work for an insurance company ;)
A body shop should take pride in it\'s work. The bumper should have been colour matched-minimum
Dc
Thanks guys 48 hours to see what happens......
My mate no longer has his bodyshop so gonna have to pay like Joe Public to have work done twice i.e fitting and painting lip on rear bumper......it looked odd with standard rear bumper and aftermarket skirts and front bumper....
My wifes policy states Mods had been declared but repaired with standard parts only...apparently they would have made her aware of standard part policy on commencement of insurance....but she has no recollection of this.....and is a Contract Manager!!!
However all is insured as uninsured losses surely? as the 3rd party who hit her has claimed all responsibility?
Its the exhaust that has annoyed me as not blowing on flexi b4 and Engineer states wear and tear despite being hit up the arse....
That for the heads up on the Obundsman Blitzboy......watch this space......wish i\'d known that at Xmas when some muppet hit the side and it came back with scrathes on the other door .
Well engineer has reviewed and still insists blowing exhaust is wear and tear and not accident related:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad
He said its at the engine side so could not have been damaged by being hit from rear......he is a retard and quite frankly i want to give him a lesson is shock transference.....
Its an MR2 roadster with the engine in the back solid exhaust in a corkscrew style to get it to fit and a flexi braid joint after the manifold before the cat.
Obviously the impact damaged the weakest bit the flexi braid......
The bumpers been sorted out and they are saying its roadworthy and the car had a damage exhaust pre accident and my wife and i are liars and we are trying it on! :censored::censored::censored:
They want the courtesy car back by 6pm tomorrow............
looks like this will be going all the way to the ombudsman.......
£435 fully comp ............:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad:2Mad
This is a big major Insurance company...........
yes too right take it to the Obudsman, if the exhaust was damaged pre accident then it would have failed the MOT in the first place, this is prove enough it was in working condition before the accident.
They are silly really risking a case with the Ombudsman, because it will cost them £500 whether they lose or win the case.
You can raise a case with Ombudsman over the phone quite easily and get a case number , just have your policy details to hand
:KingCheers Blitz boy....owe you a pint!
My wife has been really upset by all this and calling them asking what going on and get in a right state...i ve just got off the phone to her and she has not got the callback that was promised .
I\'ve banned her from ringing them as the balls in there court as they where going to call to discuss the matter further.....no sign yet and if they want the hire car back by 6pm tonight to the hire car centre when my wife is 50 miles away they got another thing coming....
Car was Mot\'d 23 May 2012 1 advisory rear pads low. I am now playing the waiting game.
Where not talking a slight blow either its proper obvious !:Hammer:Hammer
...seems insurance company have now had a change of heart since mentioning Ombudsman...should have back by end of week with exhaust fixed.
cheers Blitzboy.
Remind them that you were the victim and they are supposed to be acting to defend you in this... insurance should return you to the point you were at prior to the incident. If it doesn\'t get the legal aid involved to ensure the car is put back as it was before the accident.
(I had similar issues ages ago with a Prelude... the car was mint, it was hit by a 3rd party who claimed responsibility...yet my insurance company was giving the grief.)
Quote from: boosted;835554...seems insurance company have now had a change of heart since mentioning Ombudsman...should have back by end of week with exhaust fixed.

Good good :Thumbs-up
Still refusing to mend.....what with getting up from nights , my rexy blowing up... phone ringing "hi Blah blah blah insurance, wishing to discuss your claim". I let rip big time..........only find out it was the 3rd parties insurance company and not ours( who are dealing with claim). .....asking how things are going and why we did not have our car back....
So they are now picking up from garage . taking to their own, replacing damaged bodykit parts and replacing exhaust. They\'ve taken over hire car and DING DONG insurance can kiss my arse.
DING DONG insurance have harassed my wife, accused myself and my wife of being liars and making fraudulent claims . A full letter of complaint is being sent to them and the Ombudsman.
I seem to be going through the mill at the moment.....need a holidays!!
Just got back from Tenerife and been written off .....5 weeks later.....no wonder insurance so high .....our insurance company got quote wrong hence reason for refusal to repair 3rd party have priced it up and not economical to repair......Due to cost of CAT from Toyota.
