Title: Its here and Mine !
Post by: shaunwil on July 15, 2004, 06:25:44 PM
Just got home and taken some pictures of my new car ! Sorry about the dodgy quality ! God talk about rain, careful down the motorway :). Its an Rx7 type R2 !

Just a couple of niggles (hopefully nothing major). The speedo still reads in km/h. The rev counter isn\'t working properly and it was juddery in traffic (but not knowing what the revs where didn\'t help). Its only done about 200miles on the new engine and is going to pip hopefully next week for its check up (and the speedo / rev counter fixing).

Cheers for all the info you guys gave me, took me so long to find good cheap quality insuarance and then just as long to find a nice rx7. At long last :D

God, i never noticed i haven\'t got a strut brace in the engine bay, i\'ll have to add that to the list ! Drives so solid and smooth. How much does the LSD help ?

I was shocked that it tank is 65l, my fto was only 55. I\'ve done about 70 miles in it since i filled it up, but its still only being run up.

Cheers, need to do some serious miles at the weekend to bed the engine in ! :p

Is the rev counter fault a small one, or is it more major ?

white one! you got good bloody taste matey! I have a white one too!;)

the tacho could be a grounding problem, you can ask WGT to take the dash off and check the connections etc. have you seen it working at all??? my tacho is dodgy too but rather than find the fault I\'ll get a aftermarket tacho for it.

well done mate, i swapped from a FTO GPX recently to my 94 rx7, it was the best move ive made so far. although the NOS on the FTO was great fun......... take car of it and remember its RWD unlike the FTO.....

Looks nice matey,

Didn\'t get that from Huddersfield by any chance?

Is it a big job removing the dash to get at the rev counter ? May have a go over the weekend. It does flicker a bit and then go off, so as you said it probably isn\'t too major.

It did come from huddersfield, got it from greystone prestiege cars.

Is there a lumber / bottom back adjustment on the seat or is it set quite harsh as standard ?

Just amazed i finally own one !

Saw it just down the road from me a couple of times, did look nice.

Can\'t help with the dash removal but mine doesn\'t have any lumbar adjustment on the seats (R1).

i\'ll be trying my best. I don\'t like the wheels on it, maybe i\'ll respray them gunmetal for the min, just need to find out what wheels i fancy and save up !

They are awesome cars, a quick testdrive never really gives the main picture on just how well the go and just how smooth they are. Just fantastic. Just need to do some miles in it to allow me to put my foot down, must resist the urge! must resist ! Anybody reconmend a nice run from the NW, might go up to the lakes and have a good day out !:D

You might as well do the speedo conversion while you\'ve got the dash out too (which will also remove the 180kph limit ;) )
It\'s not that bad a job really, removing the main binnacle is probably the worst bit (it\'s clipped in quite tight!)
best of luck with it :)

Dash removal is actually quite easy, it\'s mostly held down by poppers, there only a few screws requires to unto, i think there ones behind the headunit panel, mine was missing so i ddint need to undo it :P

if you are looking for a shortish run - take it up over rivington and belmont - some nice twisty roads around there

thats my usual haunt when im out playing :)

I have to be honest, the colour of the rx7 was the last thing on my mind. I have to admit though white does suit an rx7 (maybe more without gold wheels !). Although saying that any colour suits the rx7, i just love the shape of them any way. Anybody got any good pictures for ideas on how it should be styled in the next year or so. Been wondering if a carbon bonet and a carbon spoiler would be good additions ? Then what should i do with the wheels, what is the best option for dia size, is it 17 or 18\'s on a rx7 to give good looks and performance ?

Also it doesn\'t half have some small speakers in it, Anybody fit 6x9\'s in the back bit of the rex ? I would like to get my 6.5in components in the front too, but i haven\'t even looked at that !
Plus how the hell is the stereo fit in the hole and what do i need to get the bugger out, need more than bbc 2 ! I have alot of stuff waiting to go in, but i think i\'ll only stick to a single sub !

Lots to do :) lots to see :D

gold wheels does suit the FD Shaun, but not those gold wheels IMHO, maybe Mazdaspeed ones will make you change your mind about gold wheels on a FD?.:D  the ones on your are original FD wheels painted gold and 16inches? so 17\'s will change the look too.

I can see what you mean, but i think id go for something similar, but maybe with a gunmetal finish in the middle. Like the bonnet as well, was it carbon fibre or fibreglass ?

Very nice all the same.

my bonnet? I think its plastic or fibreglass, its very lightweight... if it was carbon fibre it would be black... unless you paint it.:p
