Title: Central Locking
Post by: GeckoGareth on July 15, 2004, 02:05:26 PM
I\'ve just got a 92 import and it doesn\'t have central locking is this normal or is it a case of mine needing some work?

thanks

Gareth

Erm not sure on that now i think about it although i know they have to install a motor to do the remote central locking thing so maybe not.......
Do you have a remote alarm thingy?

Yep got a remote fob for the alarm but I wrongly assumed it locked the doors and left it open over night

Does it work with the key?

Nope! :(

The locks seem a bit crap to be honest. But the button on the alarm doesn\'t lock/unlock and using the key only opens one door.

So should it have central locking? the electric mirrors don\'t function either :(

not big things but I want to get it mint! :)

cheers

When I had my alarm installed in order for the remote central locking to work they had to install a motor to drive the mechanism. When you lock the doors manually does the passenger side lock? If not the arm that connects the central locking may have become disconnected (at least that\'s what happened to me). If I remember correctly GAP security will install a central locking motor for around £25 ish.

My 92 import does have central locking but only with the key, i believe that is standard for that year of car.

1st thing to do is to check the fuses for the electric mirrors and central locking then check the arm that ross mentioned (you can pop of the black plastic panel of the inside of the door behind the lock). from there you will be able to see if its popped off...

If its not that then post back up and we can see what we can come up with...

good luck :)

Hi,

thanks for the replies.

Locking the driver door does just that, the passenger side stays the same.

I\'ll have a look at what you guys suggested tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

Thanks again
