Bloody things! So after an MOT pass (just) the rear brakes have now decided to stick on. WTF! I\'m sure these cars know its Rotorstock this week and are playing up because they want too. Now I have to strip out the rear calipers tomorrow night and free every thing off. I even bloody serviced them this year too. Guess its my own fault for purchasing a rear brake winding too the other day for our family car, at least it came with the Mazda winding tool too :)
Someone tell me they are having issues too. I need cheering up.
Ade
I never put the handbrake on when I leave the car in the garage as it can sit for a couple of weeks, I have a gen 2 rear brake set up and found the handbrake isn\'t that great anyway!
Yeah I do that too. Never a good thing to leave it on if its gonna be sat a while.
Ade
Sorry to hear that Ade - hope you get it sorted in time for RS. If you make it there I\'ll make a mental note that if you go on the sprint circuit I\'ll keep well clear of you car\'s stopping zone :D
Hope to see you on Saturday :Thumbs-up
I\'m gonna own the sprint track this year brakes or no brakes!!!!!!!!
least you have the winding tool , its a right old pain if you dont ( as i found out , and then went and bought one ! )
I\'ve done it twice without the tool. PITA to say the least. Just got figure out how to use the tool now!!
depends on the tool , have you got one that looks like it winds , or the little block one that fits on a ratchet ??
if its the winding one , they are dead easy , if fits INTO the claliper so it uses that as a back stop and winds the piston in .. simples :D
where do you get these winding tools from as i need to do my rear fc\'s for my fb also..
Can\'t remember where I bought mine, but this works on my RX-8 rear calipers. Used loads of times, very easy to use.
LINK HERE (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Brake-Piston-Wind-Back-Double-Adaptor/dp/B000RA18AE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1345043064&sr=8-2)
If you look around you might find it cheaper elsewhere, but don\'t go to Halfrauds - the same tool there is showing at an eye-watering £32.99
I got mine off ebay for just over 20 quid but it has a right and left thread tool and loads of adaptors for different makes of car.
Can anyone remember which hand thread the fc uses? I can\'t.
Ade
im sure that you wind in clockwise to wind them in ( like tightening a bolt ) ??
these are the other ones that i mentioned

They do have a habit for bad timing lol, sure you\'ll have it sorted though especially when the alternative is to go in the skybus ;)
Sadly Ash can\'t make it either now so its worse.................
It\'d be in the vectra estate!
crickey .. how come you cant sort the FC ?
Balls, you\'ll get it sorted or the vectra will be going round the sprint circuit :Giggle
Shaun
Haha, sure it wont come to that
Well good news everyone. I got the caliper of and gave it a good freeing off. Re-greased the sliders and reassembled. For future reference, The pistons wind in clockwise. So handy having the right tool. Took next to no time compared to when I did it last.
So yes good news I will be in the FC. Bad news if your planning on doing the sprint track cause I\'m either winning it or going out in a ball of flames!!!!!
Ade
thats good to hear Ade , you have fun out there
Although i dont recommend your "ball of flames" theory ;)
Yeah true that might be a tad extreme!
Nah - ball of flames will make for better pictures/videos :Giggle
I have an extinguisher in the car - you\'ll be fine ;)
Looking forward to watching you run. Be interesting to see if anything is quicker.
Is the a rotary class on God of the Pod ?
