Title: WOT hesitation in 2nd and 3rd
Post by: redfusion on August 10, 2012, 03:40:12 AM
Greetings,

I\'ve got this hesitation issue I\'m trying to figure out. Car is a 1990 Turbo all stock and ran perfect without issues before this came up.

Last week I noticed I was getting hesitation at 6K RPM. 1st thing I did was run a couple of in tank fuel additives. This helped for a bit but then it got worse. It started to hesitate at 4.5-5K RPM. 2nd thing I did was replace all 4 spark plugs but issue was still there. Today I changed the plug wires and was all excited hoping my hesitation issue would be gone but still there. Weird thing is that in 4rd gear I can go from about 3K to redline with no hesitation. 2nd, 3rd and sometimes 1st have issues.

Anyone have similar issue?

What makes this difficult to troubleshoot it that it does not always happen. I just came back from a test run. Initially I ran the car in low gears constantly crossing 4K RPM and trying not to get in boost. Later ran several runs at WOT on 2nd, 3rd, 4th :D and guess what no hesitation!

Felt like everything was back to normal and started to head home. Decided to redline it one more time and of course at 6.5K RPM got the hesitation. WTF?!

Well I know I get the 3-4k hesitation from the secondary injectors kicking in on the stock map... are you sure it\'s not that?

Perhaps check there isn\'t any issue with the MAP sensor and all of the pipes are 100% tight, does it hesitate if you are just reving underload but off boost or is it on boost only?

Well, it appears to not have been fuel or ignition related. Anyone wanna take a guess at what seem to have cured it? :D
