Hey guys just brought myself a Rex few weeks back and wanted to introduce myself and my car, my names jot and I\'m 20yrs old! I got myself a recent rebuilt 1996 fd3s twin turbo box standard besides an exhaust and some avs 5 spoke rims.
I\'ve done a basic service but need to change the spark plugs, Ive put on yellow stuff brake pads, I\'ve put some carb cleaner in the engine to clean it out. What other advice would you guys give as I\'m new to the car?
Thank you
Jot :)
Hi and welcome
Can I ask why and where you put the car cleaner in the engine?
Jot where about in London are you from?
Welcom to the club mate
Cheers

Hi, the main air intake pipe, and the reason why was because I was reading on other threads and people say one of the main problems with rotarys are the carb deposit so they said put some carb cleaner in or do the water method. :)

That is expensive, I\'ve haven\'t checked insurance yet as for now it won\'t be a daily runner, but I will be taking it to track and will only get one days insurance which I\'ve been quoted for £25, I would recommened to go to companies direct, and admiral do give cheap quotes so try them.
All the best

Welcome to MRC :wave
Assuming the car starts ok from cold, warm & hot, and boosts/pulls ok on both turbos you are probably fine!
Is the exhaust a CAT back, or a De-CAT?

Hi Brett,
The car starts fine from cold, warm and hot, boosts and pulls fine but there is a slight prob I don\'t know if it usual but there is a slight hesitant when you put your foot down in 3rd, 4th and 5th between 4000/5500rpm it does it sometimes in 2nd, it\'s hard to explain it\'s like you put your foot down and when it gets to that point it hesitates like wakes up kind off thing, it doesn\'t drop loads off rpm it jus a split second, would you know what that is? Sorry I can\'t explain it really well.
I think the exhaust is just a back box it\'s by jasma I think, it\'s kinda loud and pops very loud. I don\'t know how to tell if it\'s a de cat or cat back, I think it\'s a cat back otherwise it wouldn\'t pass MOT right?
Thank You!:):)
I\'m not certain as I have the FC but I\'m sure I have read on here that the FD sometimes suffers from this hestaion problem. Seem to remember it being as the turbos switch over. I\'m sure someone more in the know with the FD will be able to tell you about it in more detail.

Hi, I did read up on the turbo switch over it comes on at 4500rpm and I looked at a dyne test and the line does drop a little and when the fd got mapped it was a smooth line so it might not hesitate if I get a power fc and map it, well I hope it does but thank you for your help.
Where can I post it this problem?
Thanks :Thumbs-up
