Hey Guys,
Has anyone used the above on their rotary? I added a pot of it yesterday to see if it would help the seals in the car and the only effect ive seen at the moment is a bit of smoke coming out the back of the car.
Starting to get really worried that the car is now in need of a rebuild (still losing water from somewhere)
Cheers
Mike
Don\'t believe that\'s a product designed or even recommended for the rotary!
\'Engine stop leak\' ... you didn\'t add it to the coolant system did you? :O
no didnt add to the coolant system. added it to the oil which it what it said on the tin. nothing mentioned about rotaries.
oh dear what have i done :(
Don\'t fret yet TBH, It may do no harm! Quite easy to do an oil drop / change.
I suppose the question is, why did you decide to buy / use it ... what were the symptoms?
If you\'re losing water.... obviously I different kettle of fish, could be water seals, could be split in a upper or lower rad hose... could be faulty rad / ast cap?
Well i\'m a bit of a look at the dark side sort of person. I see the bad in everything i do.
So far i\'ve changed the rear water pipe (leading up to the TB) the water pipe under the TB as these were very spongy and leaking. I drained the whole system over the weekend and made double sure that the drain plug in the block nice and tight. I\'ve also changed the rad cap however i\'ve not changed the AST cap.
I have noticed that the rubber on the AST cap seem really warped and distorted. Could this allow pressure build up?
I bought the Wynns a while ago as on start up i noticed some smoke coming out of the exhaust, It wasn\'t pure white and didn\'t last very long. Few mintues after start up the smoke stopped. Again thinking this was bad i thought the Wynns may help the seals as before i bought it the car wa sat for 2 years. However i just never got round to putting it in. So the other day i thought well what harm could it do? so i put it in.
The cars not difficult to start, I cant see any mayonnaise type stuff in oil and no continuous white smoke out the back so i didnt think the seals had gone.
Just wondering where this water is going? ha ha
The only one out there that I know that will not block the small waterways in a Rotary is K-Seal which you should be able to find at any local accessory shop/ motor factors
water ways? but its in with the oil in combustion chamber.
best to drain and renew oil?
I wouldn\'t worry too much about a bit of smoke out the back, the engine normally burns oil hence it might be slightly smokey on start up. I am guessing you used this product:

Ive not know anyone to try this in a rotary so will be interesting to see what happens! But if you are losing water it might be just a hose, there are some hoses on the side of the block, passenger side near the back which are for the heater, I know mine leaked slightly there before.
I would suggest doing a \'champagne test\' on the engine ie if there are a lot of bubbles in the coolent system when the engine is running - if there are then it might be the water seals (not very costly to do from a rebuild pespective) But I think its probably a hose somewhere, remember that the car isn\'t new anymore so hoses and leads start to degrade a bit.

Take a look guys....doesn\'t look good :(
Think this is my fears realised. Yeah i\'ve been looking at changing all my pipe work over to silicone as i\'ve seen how brittle and spongy the original pipes are in.
Have to realise that this car is 20 years old! So can understand why it has so many problems.
