Not really a practical possibility... :)

For a start, how are you intending on actually getting to the port face without stripping the block down....?

Yeah, im not sure how you would even get to the plates without taking the engine apart?

What\'s your definition of "without Rebuilding"? I didn\'t understand without rebuilding bit.

You could only port match things, but I wouldn\'t as crap WILL get inside the engine. As Brett said you need to get to the port face to enlarge the port opening for which air is delivered to the rotor chamber

Like said I assumed you couldn\'t/shouldn\'t. Only asked as my engine is coming out of the car over the winter for my full project finish and the engine is in perfect order  with good compretion so don\'t want to crack it open as it\'s only done 20k on it\'s current engine. And didn\'t wanna splash out on a rebuild kit.

Only don\'t want to as there is no point rebuilding something that\'s good

Mate, if that\'s the case, then unfortunately you would have to crack the engine open as without one, I don\'t think that, you can EVER port your engine. It\'s just impossible to port an engine without craking it open.:cheers

Dam! If had done 50+k I would have but when I do 1k a year it\'s not worth the hassle

Maybe get a spare engine and port and rebuild that then swap it in and sell on the good engine you have at the moment?

p.s. why 50k? Engine is not even half way though its working life by then lol

What did you do to it? Mines on 86k with compressions of 7.2 and 6.9 lol

You could take it apart, port the plates and just re use everything again (seals) but that\'s not a great idea either. Always best to change at least the water seals if taking it apart

Just 50k seams a bit better as the original engine went at about 50k. If was going to have to rebuild would just use mine as I know all the housings are good as it had a new engine from Mazda.

We\'ll I\'ll just have to wait and not do it or just bite the bullet and rebuild.

Porting is definitely a job for rebuild time, although you could certainly clean up manifolds and suchlike with them off the engine and may gain small improvements.

Quite a few guys over the pond run big power on stock ports and seem to do quite well. Does your engine really need porting?

I\'m doing a fd manifold mod and was going to port all the intakes to the gaskets. It was worth the question while the engine was out.
If I can fit the rebuild kit in then I\'ll do it but if not will have to just wait.
Cool thanks guys once again.
