yes i rebuilt it myself just wanted to see if i could do a wankle engine, rebuilt loads off piston engines from 4 piston to v8s in the past. starter is ok it turns over fast when engine is cold, sounds like the engine just stopping it from turning over when engine is hot

we can only guess on the forum but it could be something inside the engine causing it to be tight? maybe worth comp testing it to see if that reveals anything. id happily take a look over the car and test it but your a little far away lol

stopped raining about 3 o clock here so started to strip bits off it, there was a lot off oil in the turbos, so taking them back off. then i can see into the engine to see if tips are still there  :)
if the side seals were to tight would that cause it not to turn over when hot

It\'s possible, seen it before,  but could be something else. Few things to check first , earths ,starter, clutch.

clutch was new 4 years ago fitted by mazda dealer, it turns over fine when cold so i would say starter motor is ok. thinking it must be some thing to do with my engine rebuild, was reading on internet and they were saying it needs to be driven for 20 to 50 mile for things to bed in as seals are new and will go tight when hot. does this sound right if so ill live with it not starting when hot for a while. and earths ill check tomorrow as its all in bits again :2Mad
thanks for all your help guys

I\'ve built many many engines over the years and never had an issue like this, yes it\'s true if all new internal components are used it can take a 1000 miles or so to bed in such as side seals etc, if the side seal clearances are too tight when they get hit and expand they will jam with the corner seals. I personally wouldn\'t want to keep running it with a potential internal engine problem as you may do damage. This is if it\'s an internal issue but I can\'t see what else it could be.

they should be ok but be very carefull of the water seals as they stretch with heat and may not fit back into the groves on the plates.

thanks,so is it best to buy new water seals or will it be ok to use them if they dont stretch or snap when i take it apart.
spent weeks polishing all the engine parts so be a shame to have to break the car for spares and it got 12 months mot on it
