Title: Air Lock
Post by: Mikey22 on July 13, 2012, 01:13:01 PM
Hey guys,

Now i\'ve researched this a bit and have found some info about it but i\'d like to confirm it with someone.

I found that most of my cooland hoses were spongy and leaking so i decided to replace them all. Which i\'ve nearly done.

Obviously this meant i had to drain the coolant and and replace the hoses then fill up again which i have done. However my buzzer keeps going off around 10-15 mins into my driving. I know its not going to be perfect as im waiting on the little 90 degrees pipe under the TB as thats dripping.

Now the car doesnt over heat, the highest i\'ve seen for a long time was 90 degrees and as soon as i put the fans on it went back to between 80-85. There are no puddles of water under the car after running etc so it cant be pushed out of the expansion tank. Also the oil is nice and clean with no water reaction so im not suspecting seal failure.

So i\'ve come to deduct that its infact an air lock, and ive massaged the pipes, filled it up, drained, filled slowy, massaged etc and its still not works.

I\'ve just read that i should Remove the pipe from back of TB and massage radiator pipes till i get a trickle of water (whilst topping up any lost water) then that should do the trick.

Has anyone tried this? or has anyone any suggestions on getting rid of air leaks etc?

Cheers

Mike

Have you checked that the drain plug on the block is indeed tight?
