Title: People with standard RX-7s
Post by: zeppelin101 on July 09, 2012, 12:20:59 PM
I need some measurements of the stock suspension arms, if anyone can help?

In particular the height from the ground to:

Front lower arm hub mount and subframe inner mount

Front upper arm hub mount

Rear lower arm hub mount and subframe inner mount

Rear upper arm hub mount

The car will need to be on the ground or some kind of ramp so the suspension is in it\'s natural resting position.

Basically I want to do some calcs of the stock suspension to work out the stock geometry with an eventual aim to making customised fully adjustable arms.

Any help greatly appreciated!

What model details are you after?? Different models have different spring heights, type-r / rs /rb / rz etc....

Just inadequate it matters :p

i wouldn\'t use the ground as a reference point personally. I\'d suggest measuring the stock arms (off of the car), the height difference between the top and bottom subframe mounts, height and offset (assuming there is some sort of offset for castor) between top and bottom mounts on the hub. Distance between the mounts on the left and right side. And maybe try and work out the angle of one of the arms, suppose this angle doesn\'t need to be too accurate as this will change with different spring rates etc.

A type R would do. It doesn\'t matter unduly unless there is a big difference in geo between models.

Reason I want the ground height is to work out the roll centre from stock. I can measure everything else on my own car. I want to characterise the standard suspension for everything first then I can use that as a reference for my own design.
