Title: Coilover fitting, urgent
Post by: J4P RX on July 12, 2004, 05:53:39 PM
Can anyone change my coilovers before the weekend.

It would seem that after seeing it the place I had planned to do it dont want to know as they didnt realise what it was going to be.

It looks like at this rate im just never going to get the car running properly, nevermind this weekend which is when I need it.  Totally had enough of it at the moment :reallymad

Is it wise to just bung the new stuff on and go with it as it is without a proper set up.  The guy who just looked at it almost made it out to be the end of the world to get set-up and that it would cost a fortune.

Have you tried DS Engineering at Dartford? only about 10 minutes drive from the Wharf pub where the southern meet is.

No I havnt, but I dont think I could really afford to pay for somewhere like that to do it anyway.

Would they do the work?  It seems at the moment people dont want to know because they are adjustable and apparently thats going to make it really difficult to do.

Give Steve a ring - it\'s worth a try as he\'s a top bloke and only seems to charge me a few quid when he does any work for me.

Steve @ DS Engineering - 01322387372

Editted to add: I\'m sure they\'d be able to do it easily if they have time this week. They do all sorts including full hydrolics suspension etc!!

If you get stuck come down and I\'ll fit them no problems for nowt.
Dunno why the people you\'ve spoken to have been so reluctant to fit them

Ill try and call them tomorrow.

The real issue is a cant stand using telephones so go out of my way to avoid them.

Im not sure I can get my car there though, which would be a bridge to cross.

Aargh I was in Dorset to get them too lol

What about set up though.  Is it going to be ok to just put them on without having a set up done?

I\'d just set them to the same ride height as you\'ve got at the moment and they should be good to go

that statement probably doesn\'t inspire you with much confidence :rollin
We\'d probably need an entire day, a couple of hours to fit them with base settings and a few hours of driving/adjusting. The only thing I can\'t do is corner weights, I\'ve got no scales but it\'s not a big problem, I\'ve fitted and set up a couple of cars for circuit racing without them to good effect.

That last comment is more confidence inspriing as you obviously know what your doing with this sort of stuff.

I do want it set up, but never thought Id have time anyway and was prepared to make do with just on.  Not sure ill get that far now.

Whats a reasonable price to pay for fitting then, so I know if Im getting a good deal or not?

Thanks
Lee

I woudn\'t imagine a garage would charge more than 3.5 - 4 hours labour for just fitting them.

If you ring Steve@DS don\'t forget to mention you\'re on MRC. I think they read the forums anyway and they are good mates of Clives.
