I was having a worry when accelerating hard past 3000rpm - that whisling noise that generally indicates a leak in a pipe or a noisy turbo.
Just had the exhaust changed * this morning. The standard twin tailpipe huge thing has now gone in favour of the Blitz Nur Spec R. The pipe that was taken off was well knackered with a split in the outer skin and packing coming out of it. Since the new pipe has gone on, the whistling noise has disappeared completely so it seems my leak was in the exhaust. Anyone else had a whisling exhaust?
Just had another thought - maybe the previous owner had stuck one of those whistling inserts up the end of the pipe. Anyone remember seeing them for sale a few years back? I remeber a bloke used to drive around like a maniac in a 1.1 litre Escort with one. He seemd to think it was a performance mod.
