Well the white cab is booked in for the MOT tomorrow
Are we having a sweep stake of what it will fail on ??
Im really hoping for it to pass as i have a RAFT of bits to fit to it , but i only want to fit them knowing that its got a 12 month ticket
To fit at the mo :
1 - Blitz Bov
2 - Cone Filter
3 - FCD
4 - 17 wheels
5 - Front grooved and drilled disc
6 - mintex front pads
7 - vented head light cover
8 - 3-4 inch exit stainless exhausts back boxes
I want to fit them .. but want a green ticket first ;)
They are all white nowadays! Best of luck though :Party
well everything is crossed put it that way !
It\'ll be alright mate don\'t worry :)
Ade
i hope so pal !
o/s headlight aimed high, n/s/r indicator incorrect colour and obstruction of more than 40mm outside zone a!
I think it\'ll pass :) Think positive... There will probably be a few advisories I would have thought.. Usually are on cars this age, lol
Good luck for tomorrow Stu.... :driving
i have spoken to Brett about this over the last few days , and we basically came to the conclusion :
1 - it will either pass or fail
2 - in the grand scheme of thing - you need to know !
so if its bad , its bad and you sit and think about it , if its not , you fix it and send it back thru , if it passes .. dont worry ;)
we will all know about 5:30 ish tomorrow .. i will post up the results anyways ;)
Thanks for the comments chaps !! .. i need it road legal for rotorstock anyways !!
Make sure you check the basics though - if it fails on a bulb I will have to set you on fire.
so has it passed?
has it failed?
Has it caught fire?
its booked in for 16:30 today
to about an hour before i take it there .. this is like waiting for a dentist :(

Try and see if you can beat me \'passenger seat missing\' advisory I had on mine a few years back :rollin

I didn\'t even know that could be an advisory.... That sounds like a good one, might do that myself next year, lol

Yeah, I had similar... Forgot to bolt the passenger seatbelt back in so it was dangling loose. Insta-fail... :(
Good luck Grinder!
OK , back home .. and whats with the naff MOT print out these days ;)
Yeah it passed :D :D :D :D
It wont next year though :( needs some welding doing , its still solid as much as he could hit it , but he says it needs sorting out
Brakes were just about OK , but its only been out a few times in the last 6-7 months so that doesnt shock me
So , i can run it for another 12 months at least ;)
well done, I know how you feel I took my one for an MOT yesterday, it passed with some explanation about emmissions, but the waiting seemed to take for ever
Congrats :)
Not really surprised about the welding, seems that welding should be part of the yearly service with these cars, but it\'s all part of the fun ;)
Time to get on with the fitting of yer extras :)
:guinness:cheers Woo Hoo :guinness:guinness
Excellent. Another years motoring...
ohh yes , thanks for the post guys :D
Just a shame that is consitantly raining here at the mo .. might see what sat / sun bring and try and get the bov and cone filter on and the FCD and see if its any quicker :D
whilst it was on the ramps i have a look underneath , its already running a straight thru down pipe and centre decat.. so its all ready for some more boost :D
the new mot cert is a bit of a joke! being an mot tester myself i voiced my concerns to vosa about these and the answer i got back was its up to the owner of the car to phone up and check out if the cert is genuine then they said that its a vosa only font that is used
oh and thats good it passed
Congratulations Stu. Need to get mine done now. Its due on the 23rd but it ain\'t gonna get done for then :(
mine was only due at the start of July , but for some reason really wanted to see if it would pass or fail
the underside of it is looking really sorry for itself .. and im not sure what to do with it ( based on that working on the underside of a car on a driveway isnt the easiest job to begin with )
The best I can suggest is, large wire brush to start and then waxoyl... I\'m planning on doing that on my garage floor this summer...
Got a couple of those drive on ramp things recently, they\'ll help a lot :)
These things (But I got them locally for cheap):

yeah i have a couple of those kicking around
it still the same old issue , only gets the car about 12 inchs off the floor .
ideally you need ...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Display-Ramps-READ-THE-FACTS-FIRST-PEOPLE-NEW-GUARANTEED-THICKER-STEEL-/290728141334?pt=UK_Lifting_Moving_Equipment&hash=item43b0bf6216
but not at those prices !!!!!!!!!!
or these ;)

or finnally .. http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/tsbs-how-articles/32202-how-make-your-own-low-profile-car-ramps.html
there are 2 pages to this .. some interesting concepts to be honest !
Those restoration ramps look interesting... Would quite like a set of them...
I have access the a large garage at work, but only for a few hours a day and nothing too messy... So something at home would be great...
i may make a set of those restoration ramps, i have a proper jacking beam to use with them
This is the solution I settled on for doing the underneath of my new cab shell :

Spit roast for the win :Giggle
thats pretty cool Dave , and not a bad price compared to everything else
looks superb for a bare shell

That is the only down side - everything has to come off ;)
Still - it\'s very well made - and British, so quite happy I am supporting our engineering firms in buying one. The guy even made custom mounting pieces for the FC bumper - now that is service !
When I finally get round to getting the shell onto it I will take some piccies. It\'s worth checking out their ebay shop, as they do offer all sorts of jacks / mounts and other stuff for working on cars - including a centre jacking frame that allows you to see saw the car back or forward to work on the underneath - might suit you.
nice one dave .. might have a nosey later
