Clutch pedal stuck to the floor!! Advice would be great!!!
Hi people,
Driving my rex (\'96 fd) last night and from no where i couldnt change gear and clutch wouldnt come back up again1 managed to pull it back up and sprung back ok, but press it again it stayed back to floor again. once i was taken back home, thanks to brake down recovery, i left it for an hour and deided to have a little dig around. managed to change to each gear (withought cluth pedal) no problem.
am i correct in thinking its either master or slave cylinders???
when i broke down rang the rac and they said they would b around 90mins....great!!! tried to ring home...no answer. tried to ring my bro who lived 3min walk from where i broke down then my mob battery died!!! so i decided to take the short walk to my bro\'s worried about the rac not being able to contact me. pressed his buzzer more times than i have had rebuilds...no answer. seen a pay phone not far away and was gona ring home again to let rac know my mobs died. had 20p on me...minimum charge for phone...60p! fantastic! so decided to go back to my rex and pray and hope rac turn up. eventualy they did thank god. however couldn\'t tow the rex due to how low they are. waited another 30mins for flat bed truck. he came and took me home :D
worst part of it is that when i got home my dad and his mate were drunk. after telling tem what happend they started to laugh...why....because they were in town about 100yds from where i was and seen the flatbed truck and joked it was me and got a taxi back home....couldn\'t script that! hahaha
Mate, your clutch slave cylinder is gone. Sorry :(
thought so :( how much and how difficult to change? thanks for ur reply bud
Usually the master is on its last legs too, the recommend resealing / changing both.
Shaun
Also check your flexi hose going down from bulkhead to slave hasn\'t split. Both master and slaves are very simple to change.
Thanks for replies and sorry for late one! Turned out to be flexi hose. £24 in total and clutch now works :D
cheers guys!
