Title: Secondary injectors
Post by: dturpin on May 30, 2012, 11:50:54 PM
Hi, I have got a set of Bosch 1600 cc injectors on the secondary rail on my FD, I am running an apexi power fc.
I have been reading in some places that I should have resistors in line with the injectors as they are low impedance injectors, and if run without resistors it can cause damage to the power fc.
Could someone clarify this for me please, and I\'d possible tell me what size u would need and which wires to install them on.
Help greatly appreciated
Dave

I think with the PFC it accounts for the injectors being a different resistor, the issue mainly comes with piggyback ECUs (like mine) that use the OEM ECU, if the resistance isn\'t there for the injectors the OEM ECU panics and can go into limp home as I can\'t \'see\' there are injectors.

Don\'t forget you will also need the injector collars and new grommits to fit the injectors in the LIM (I had issues lol)

The pigtail connectors you need I think are ths standard EV1s from what I can remember.

Thanks for the reply m1tch, I have the injector collars, what grommits do I need? all I got with the injectors was the collars.

Due to the old 1680\'s being low impedance it\'s recommended to fit resistors inline to stop the PFC driver circuit  burning out, some people don\'t use them but most do.
3 ohm 10 watt would be fine.

Just look at getting some OEM injector grommits, believe me when you remove the old injectors and you look at the rubber seals you will need to get new ones anyway, im guessing the 1680s are either new or have new O rings as well? Its the gromits that go in the LIM, they are needed to seal the collar and injectors at the right height - don\'t forget that they have to be air and fuel tight as it would be a massive vac leak if air can get past the injectors.
