Title: 1st Gen Diffs: How robust?
Post by: Brett on May 24, 2012, 02:37:09 PM
Anyone had any experience of dragging with a S2 or S3 diff?  How much abuse can they take?  Are they made of chocolate like the 2nd gen EGi diff, or a bit tougher?

Also, if anyone has an FB LSD going begging...? :Thumbsup!

Give pip a ring. He has a brand new 1st gen LSD diff. Although it may be out of you price range :Giggle

I have a S3 diff in the garage that needs a good flush out with oil (got alloy shavings in it while working on something else on the bench !). All yours if your passing !

I had a series 3 diff in the race car. Strong as an ox. I gave it brutal launches and a massive power slide into a kerb and part from the bent flange on the end of the shafts it was still good. The diff is still in use today. I had a LSD from pip first such was then changed to the KIA sportage unit with a 4.7ish ratio

Mines had 305hp through it and the engine let go before the diff did :)
