Hey im Mike and I purchased an RX7 FC Turbo II last year.
Bit of a story behind this one. My friend bought it with 58K miles on it in 2007 at the same time when I bought a Fiesta RS Turbo (which was a cool car). As the years went by the Mazda was barely used, being a second car to an Audi S4 he had, it has covered an amazing less than 2000 miles since he purchased it. In that time it has had a new clutch and slave cylinder fitted at a cost of around £600! He also fitted an induction kit which seems to be of a good qaulity as it has mounting support brackets and it also has a powerflow exhaust system fitted. The number plate was also included.
Over a few months last year I was nagging him asking if I could buy it from him as he is planning on moving out of the UK so I knew he would sell up, he finally gave in and we agreed on £1800, It had no MOT or road tax and had been sat for 12 months since the last mot!
I collected it from his home and took it to my friends workshop, where I spent two days on it preping it for MOT (Needless to say it passed! :-D), cleaning it and getting to grips with the mechanical side of it.
Heres some pics of the car prior to collecting it, as you can see it was looking sorry for itself. I managed to get it running after fitting some new belts that had failed.

So I got it back to my Dads yard and set to work. Giving it a good rinse and T-cut, Mot prep work and general getting to grips with it

So at this point I had got it on the road. We gave it a VERY good clean and all was well... for a while. The car started acting up, was running very poorly and was undriveable. I took the car in to get looked at be a specialist and got it back 6 weeks later. The OMP was failing and the fuel injectors needed refurbing in the end.
Heres some pics from late last year

As you can tell by this point I was very happy hence the cleaning session! I gave the car plenty of TLC and enjoyed it up untill November, aiming to take it off the road for winter and garage it at my friends place.
As the winter went by I gathered up a few bits for it, consisting of a Knightsports FCD, strut braces, headlight scoop and a Decat (Not yet fitted).
I got it out of the garage 3 weeks ago and re-taxed it for the summer. Ive modified the front numberplate holder and chopped the plate down too, keeping it within UK Legal specs yet looking much less cluttered at the front of the car.
The decat is the next item to be fitted, then its bodywork time. The wings need tidying up and rear arches before they start to rust.
Heres some pics of late. These were taken on my favourite local road through Nant-y-Garth. An enjoyable yet demanding road that complements any sports bred car. The sound of the turbo and rotary engine echoing off the walls/cliff faces send a chill down my spine.

Scary to think the interior now counts as retro :Giggle
this car loooks soooooooooooooo familar
did it ever live near alton towers ???
it looks like one of the white FC i had before....hmmm.....but i really couldnt remb the reg number as i had about 2 other white FC before my japan FC.....
the reg really does sounds familiar to be honest ?
well i couldnt find any documents with that car now as it only owned it for 7 months....but i think it is one of the FC i owned before....small world ;)
I can PM you the Regs its had in the past if you want. The car is currently off the road as the MOT has ran out. Needing 4 tyres and a few bits of TLC its going to be at least 4-6 weeks before I sort it :-(. Im needing a workshop really to sort it all out (Decat to sort blowing CAT, dent on wings and rear arches). Will update soon.
Interested to see how this FC\'s coming along, looks pretty tidy! I\'m possibly looking for a white FC myself as well.. Just throwing that out there. ;)

Hi Looks good but has a Tin Top !!!!!
where did you get the Right hand Head lamp cover ?
Michael
Small update for those interested.
I took the car off the road last november for the winter and to save money. During those few months I have gathered a few parts.
USDM aero mirrors that I had to repair and paint, Convertible turbo alloy bonnet and I still have a decat to fit. These are the plans for this spring, then the bodywork needs attention. I want a proper turbo front lip spoiler as mine is the wrong one.
I also have a spares car arriving shortly, though I may get it running for a laugh.
I have a slight issue in regards to storage, I need somewhere to work on the car in the dry for a few months.
Pics to follow once I upload them. Mike.
And I imported the headlight cover from China through ebay. It was a very poor fit and finish, I had to adjust both that and the headlight assembely to fit. Its a slightly off shade as I painted it with some spare VW white I had as the car is going to have some paint work soon. Mike.
Heres some pics of the mirrors. They were advertised as one being ok and the other having a crack in the middle. I can repair bodywork to a good standard so I went for them (my girlfriend bought them for me for christmas). Unfortantly when they arrived the broken one was mis-described and had a large chunk missing where it meets the door. After some messaging to the American seller he refunded us and I set about repairing the mirror.
I had to stip the mirror down which involved breaking the glass as these are use once glass. I then had to break the mirror housing completly in half and re aglin the housing back together using some very strong glue and poweder.
I then fillered then crack and went onto filling the big hole with fibreglass. The total repair time for the one mirror was approx 3days on and off.

And here it is painted (the other was simple and only needed flatting, primering and painting)

I look forward to seeing them installed.
i have the exact same ones in the garage .. what are you gonna do about replacement glass for them ??
Im either going to source a glass via Ebay.com. Or I will buy a \'cut to shape\' glass from a car parts store. Lucky for me only one needs the glass. Its a silly design, to access the internals the glass has to be smashed to gain access to a cross head screw that allows the glass holder to be removed, then you can access the motor assembly and mirror chassis.
im sure that the glass is on the wrong side cause they are left hand drive cars .. im tempted to get 2 of "the cut to shape" ones and do it that way
UNLESS you can find glass that fits , and if you do , you will have to let me know :D
There\'s some good work there :)
Cheers. Tbh im going to end up using a \'cut to shape\' mirror as it\'ll be cheaper and take 5 minutes. I priced up some mirrors from america ebay and by the time it gets sent over it\'ll cost me £25 as customs usually charge me.
Thanks for the feedback. Also anyone in the local area to Chester/Mold would be cool to know.
Chester .. err im not "that" far from there .. prob an hour ish ??
Yeah about an hour 15 mins. If I do manage to get it taxed a few of us should meet up as it\'ll be nice. Not many people round here even know what an RX7 is haha.
i suppose best way is to try and work out who would attend , map it out somehow and then find a middle point .. knowing my luck it would be 5 mins from mine ! LOL
I jsut read that as "Party at Grinders House, All Welcome" :Giggle
