Title: Anyone know much about van speed restrictiors?
Post by: RobMatthews on April 30, 2012, 11:25:35 AM
Just had a look at a citroen berlingo van 1.9d but it only revs to 3000rpm, the salesman said it was due to the speed restrictor, which is the fuel pump pressure turned down... is this true or has he tried spinning me a fast one?

He did say they can turn it back up to illiminate the restriction so im thinking he must be telling the truth or he wouldn\'t have offered?

Any imput appreciated:thumbsup:

New or used - if used I\'d talk to a main dealer.

I have Berlingos pass me on the motorway well over 90mph

If there is a speed restrictor fitted to any van, it\'s worth noting that it is an offense to tinker with it ;)

What year is it,on most modern vans the ecu controls the fuelling at a set speed not rpm to control speed,

Though you can screw out the throttle stop to restrict on early tdi`s its not a great way of doing it coz you loose half your power in all gears.
