So basically all i was doing was changing the headunit to a double din screen headunit, after coming across abit of dodgy wiring into the old one. So I went out and just bought a mazda harness to ISO for my new one.
A simple easy job although part of the bodged wiring before hand there was a mazda looking original cable but had a crimp wiring it to the old headunits wiring.
When I disconnected this I only ever put the key to ignition and everything seemed fine so I rebuilt the dash. Now it just doesnt want to start anymore.
I havent had time to revisit this as of yet but my thinking is it could have been to do with the fuel pump as I seem to no longer hear it.
oh btw the mazda cable looked like it would have been a negative for something
Just wondering if anyone else had any ideas/experience with anything like this before
thanks for any help
Sorry real tough to help with this one as it sounds like you have changed many things at once,
All I can suggest is to use a circuit tester to find what you have feeds to and what you haven\'t, if you have no feed to the pump chances are you have no ignition feed either.
when you say it doesnt start does everything still light up on the dash? does it turn over and not fire or is it just dead??
where bouts in dorset are you im in weymouth
Have you checked you haven\'t popped any of the fuses. Did you do the work with the battery disconnected ? Could be the alarm has armed due to no voltage.
Shaun
I\'m in Bournemouth although working away this week now.
The dashboard lights up and everything seems fine, tries to turnover but does not fire up
The car has a cobra alarm/immobilized and it hasn\'t kicked in, didnt get a chance to look a it before leaving so will do when I get back.
Just found it weird if it is fuel pump or something as its a genuine Mazda plug with some jap writing begin the radio lol. As I recall it was bodged into the radio negative which as I just took out this would stop fuel pump or whatever from working. Or just thinking could even be ignition
Will hopefully find out in a week, will update. Thanks for the ideas
Is the engine turning over but not catching? I think somewhere in that bodge of wires was a splice into the ignition.
The fuel pump wires don\'t go anywhere near the radio, but there\'s an easy test for the pump (BTW, if you havent downloaded a copy of the workshop manual, do!). Take out the main EGI relay, and in the diagnostic pod in the engine bay bridge F/P and GND. Turn the key and you\'ll hear the pump running.
