Title: noob to the rotary world
Post by: djmazz on April 03, 2012, 11:08:25 AM
Hello from an mazda noob in teesside.
My names Dave, and im looking to join the world of rotary in the near future.
I own a 91 crx vtec, or i did untill i gave it to the missus :3Confused
Shes had large amounts of body work done to bring her back to as new as she could be, a b18 motor dropped in and various other bits and is so much fun to drive (the car not the missus).
I was going to get another but seen as i can still drive her (again the car that is) i thought id go with something new.

My initial plan was an r32 gtr and because i knew very little about rx7\'s (only the usual stuff people believe) i never thought id even think about buying one, but now iv done some research, mostly on here, i realise my understanding on rotary motors was very miss-understood. Now i want an fd :mmmm

Iam at the moment waiting on some monies coming my way, i dont know when or how much but it should be soon now and a substantial amount, so have been looking into whats available, prices id have to pay and also mods.

I understand they can be costly and are quite heavy drinkers so the plan was to get one and, unless its had a recent rebuild already, get it rebuilt and single turbo\'d straight away for piece of mind and maybe a bit better mpg.

Now, the only chance i have had at having a good look at an fd was one getting broke and by the time id got there it was near enough stripped so was wondering if there is anyone close to me with one that would fancy letting me have a look, maybe taking me for a run round the block :eek

Any advice anyone can give me that they feel maybe helpful would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that has contributed to this forum, you have tought me a lot in the last month and gave me a totally different point of view towards these amazing cars. I hope to purchase soon and learn fast so i can help add to the knowledge already available.

@Neil_jdmr cheers bud.  What you in boro for,  the drifting?
I\'d really like a look round one.  Very much doubt it\'ll put me off mind but better than looking with money in my pocket because ill just buy one out of excitement lmoa

Im only up the road from you, and family live in Hartlepool so still got plenty of friends in the boro which i pop up to see from time to time.

Can pm you on the other forum but will be a couple of weeks

This btw is the single worst thing you can do tbh, a few are lucky but most are not buying on whim.

Other forum?  Which ones that?

And I agree excitement buying has caused me problems in the past. That\'s why Im wanting a look at one before I travel to see one.

Again thanks for this offer bud. And a couple of weeks is no problem.  I\'m on the sick due to injury so I\'m free 24/7 at the moment till god knows when :/

Weather was awful anyway mate so it wouldn\'t have been much to show, was twitching about with very little boost so was a pita anyway.

Next time dude and I\'ll try for some better notice, often in Hpool, so if you will to travel
