Title: Elford turbo
Post by: Mike_10 on April 03, 2012, 07:53:09 AM
Hi I have got a elford turbo has been off road for around 12 years, I\'m just trying to get it fired up, it turns over nice and free, I had to put a new coil on because one wasn\'t sparking, now has all sparks, took carb off cleaned right out, put back on run some fresh fuel directly to the carb, then spin it over just goes to fire about once or twice then nothing,  any ideas is there something I missed or r these just a pain to get going after afew years not being run

Hi Mike,

Have a good read: This post gives a lot of info about the carb and how fuel forms a residue after years of standing.

My fee for giving you this lead? Well I do keep a comprehensive register of all known 1st gens, and I would very much like to see if I have your reg listed.

You can email on dgnock at btopenworld dot com if you like.

Hope that helps.
Dave

Hi Mike
Where in Essex are you ? as I\'m in Upminster.

Mine was off the road for 11 years dry stored, I had to get a new carb in the end to get it runnig right. In your case I\'m sure new plugs would help.

Hi there. Nice to hear from another Elford owner - there are only half a dozen or so of us around. How long have you had it? Have you got a thread anywhere? Some photos?

We rebuilt the carb on ours last year (on the basis of Ians post - the link given by David Knock above). Ours was still running, but the rebuild made a big difference. http://www.rx7fb.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=232

Keep going through the threads - you will find out an awful lot...
