Title: water temp question when engine is shut off.
Post by: ramirez on April 02, 2012, 08:44:12 PM
hi guys

was driving in my 7 earlier, on the apexi fc commander it was showing water temps of between 85-90 degrees c when running and stationary.

I believe that is about right. However when i shut off the engine, went for a :censored::censored::censored::censored:, and came back to restart it - the control unit showed temps of 103 degrees c on start up, v quickly shooting down to 90-91 c.

is that ok?

i think that is normal mate because there isnt any  fresh air going into the engine bay no more to help cool down the engine and turbo pack

Totally normal, it\'s because the pump is mechanical, so when you shut off the water in the block and in the turbos boils.  The boiling action causes the water to move around so the cooling cycle continues.  It\'s nothing to worry about.  If you want proof of this, turn your engine back on for a few seconds and you\'ll see the water temp drop suddenly back to 85ish as the pump moves it around.
