my 7 is running on h4 hids at the moment and my daily drive is also running on hids but h7 so every time i want to flash or turn on the high beam i have to wait for it to warm up 1st and its a pain in the bum. now people have suggested for me to try leds so im just wondering what you guys think about led head lights or if any of you tried it.
From what i know Audi and BMW are experimenting with LED headlight units one has been in testing in the R8 and a fortune spent on it by all accounts. Hella have released a 90mm LED unit i have asked for prices but not received anything yet. You can bet they wont be cheap, but i will look at developing them into Concept-7 90mm dual headlight kit in the future to see if they can be incorporated.
As for HID bulbs they dont take kindly to be switched on and off quickly it shortens the life of the bulb significantly so be warned.
Hids do my head in, they are always failing on me. Love the look of them but they just dont seem to last long, Ive tried maybe 4-5 sets of reasonable priced ones £40-80. Had same issues with my old FTO.
Seen a few LED headlight/fog light bulbs on ebay, but surely they wont have enough output for headlights?
Im using Ring H4 rally sport 160/90W. Old yellow type light but I can see where im going.
my hids have been pretty good upto now so fingers cross it will carry on being like this i love the look of hid as well but its just a pain to wait for it to warm up. by the way 40-80 quid cant get you some thing good i think my was about 150 ish a set i can may be dig out the box and tell you what make it is if you want
