Title: Panic Buying
Post by: jetpilot on March 31, 2012, 08:23:53 AM
So how have people faired this week?

I put my usually £30 in my daily as i was on the light, it did take about 15 mins queue though, but resisted the urge to fill her up and stock pile!

There are some insane stories in the news, for example, a lady in her 70\'s filling up jam jars

I will say, if ever people moan about fuel prices, this just goes to show the government have got you by the short and curlies when it comes to how much they can add on, people will pay whatever :evillaugh

I am more curious about where all these people have suddenly got to go that they need the fuel! :xconfused

My daily was on the fuel light on Tuesday, because I\'ve not had to go anywhere this week, on leave from work which is nice, I decided to deliberately flaunt the panic buying and see how low I was prepared to get my "miles to empty" figure to go to on my trip computer.  I filled up yesterday, and there wasn\'t a massive queue at the pumps.  I\'ve now got 600 miles to play with before I have to do it again.

The RX8 is staying in the garage, largely because I\'m not planning on using it and it needs to get an MOT.

Have you heard about the woman who was decanting petrol in her kitchen???
She apparently filled up cans but was swapping them into another  container so she could fill her car.

Took me nearly an hour to fill up the other day.
I did enjoy filling up both tanks tho and watching ppl\'s faces lol.

My car had £20 in on Thursday. Once it\'s gone it\'s gone. Not going to rush for more as I don\'t need it everyday now.

Volvo V40 1.9D daily drive, 2/3 tank to go, should be ok for about 3 weeks until I need to fill up again :rollin

I also find it quite funny how people are trying to blame the government.....for their own lack of common sense :)

I\'ve just put £40.00 of 99 Tesco Momentum in and as soon as all the shoppers are home I\'m going out for a drive til it\'s all gone. zoom zoom.

As above I filled my Peugeot 1.5D to full which I normally never do before the panic and that\'ll be at least a month of commuting before I\'ll need more!

Not worried anyway as I cycle 40 miles to work and back 2 or 3 days a week anyway so I\'m quite capable of getting myself to work thanks.

Only thing is if there was no fuel for transport then all the delegates wouldn\'t turn up so I wouldn\'t have a job anyway :(

always though you werent supposed to put tesco momentum in an fd as its chemicals which makes it up to 99 rather than octane

did not know that...just put another £20.00 esso super as wife back from hen do feelin delicate so decided to get out the house for another blast.....cruise into Bath and they got no fuel...eek......cruise out of Bath and got a top up . The Red light on mine tells me you have 20 secs to fill up ......ran out once b4 came close today.......mx5 for rest of week!
so is esso super 97 better than tesco 99 ?

Octane rating just reflects the knock-protection of the fuel, not how it achieves it.  Tesco Momentum has a lot of bio-ethanol in it though so you\'ll get less fuel economy out of it as it\'s got lower specific energy.

Only time the FB comes in to its own with the LPG and the starter motor dies ! Had to use the FD for most of the week, had 3/4 tank on the tuesday and just tootled round just fine.

They where queuing in front of our work because of the petrol station next door. They put 3p/lt on petrol straight away. Just completely bonkers in my mind. These sheep are complete numpties.

98 octane, the only thing the FD and cosmo gets, just hit 1 pound 81p here in norway.......!
And the government runs off with 70% of it in taxes....!
