Title: Swapping back to pop ups
Post by: themightyo on March 27, 2012, 06:31:42 PM
Not keen on the frog-eye headlights on my fd, so I\'m collecting some popups with HID conversion. Is it a straight swap or do I need to enlist the help of an electrician? I should add that whilst reasonably handy with a spanner, I am completely clueless when it comes to electrics.

Gives a shout if you need a hand, I will be working on my car all weekend anyway. I also have a spare set of lights if you are missing any bits.
It is a pretty straightforward job, you\'re best fitting the caps on top of the oil coolers when the lights are out.

Cheers Phil.

It\'ll not be happening for a couple of weeks, cos I\'m still away with work. Picking the lights up next weekend, so probably sometime in the week after that.

Quite a straight forward swap, done this on one of my past fds. Looks a bit complex with all the wiring but just follow the wires, if I remember correctly the aftermarket wiring loom only splices into the stock wires twice, one each side. Just pull them apart and reconnect the original wires together . Then fit your pop ups in, the stock plugs that go into the connection where the motor unit is on the back of the light unit just clicks together. The plugs should still be in your engine bay untouched. Hope this helps.
