Title: Non Seq Boost Control
Post by: boosted on March 25, 2012, 08:09:16 PM
FINALLY GOT AN APEXI FITTED AND MAPPED....BUT CANT CONTROL BOOST?

I am seeing 1.1 bar on hand controller!:( And boost cut so what are my options to stop the thing detonating into next week......

The car has decat silenced mid pipe full non seq conversion. on stock twins...should the apexi be able to control the boost or asking to much due to increased flow ?

What do i need to do to lower the boost?  I used to run on std ecu and pipe to boost solenoid plugged.....now on apexi and re-installed boost solenoid...

install cat?
Separate electronic boost controller?
Manual bleed on actuator?

I ve plugged the actuator pipe again so back on 0.6 bar:(

Who mapped it?

Hi mate Olly from Rotary Motion...he fitted my Apexi , re-installed boost pipes with correct pills and added a relay to prevent ignition break down at high rpm. The Map sp is 0.5 bar!!
Am i just flowing too much i read alot of old threads about non seq boost control. Boost solenoid is working tested with power. Before pills went in only 0.5 bar ..... any suggestions?

take it back to the mapper and get it sorted

has the wastegate been ported?

My car came to me with little info so i don\'t know if actuator ported but the bleed off the actuator was plugged and i\'ve been running low boost for nearly 2 years now... i am trying to control boost on a 20 year old solenoid that has not been used for at least 2 years.... think the solenoid is failing as was running nice with no cut then got progressively worse. Ollys been great and working on his weekend to sort my car with very reasonable rates and letting me stick my beak in the way and ask silly questions....
I was hoping someone could answer my question about non seq boost control....theres reference on old forum posts about being uncontrollable and prone to spikes. I like to do things myself and learn as i go....
I\'v spoke with Olly and were having another look at it latter on this week.

Cool, I have non seq too, which is why I asked. I haven\'t had mine ported and sometimes notice creep / spike ( not too bad though )... and know a mate of mine ( Ali / drifter on FDUK ) who ported his when he when non seq to overcome this / these probs...

Might be worth looking at.

Obviously, old knackered solenoids won\'t help either but more often than not, will tend to reduce boost, rather than allow more !?

All the best - Phil

Hi mate unsure of internals of a boost solenoid but would of thought normally closed until energised and sealing would be done by a rubber type diaphragm..? so disconnected yonks ago as split/perishing  so hence inability to shut and close actuator at boost limit. The more you work it the more it breaks up? No sealing equals lots of boost.? as continually bleeding pressure from actuator ?.... am i right or wrong???

Olly found my hose to the boost solenoid was perished and we replaced so maybe overboosting for previous owner...?

I got the taste for the increased power now the car is chalk and cheese and goes well on the higher boost!.... There is limited info on non seq boost control ive googled it and and end up reading about varrying hose lengths with home made bleed valves....:Hammer
As long as i can get it round Castle Combe on 29th April low or high boost without embarrassing myself I\'ll be happy.

I\'ve had a play after work and re-instated pipe to boost soleniod....but unplugged it electrically.....only 0.5 bar now so defo closed.

From what i understand, You wont need any solenoids if you\'re non seq. The pfc controls boost perfectly fine for stock seq twins, but when you remove the solenoids to do non seq, it has no means of controlling it, so you need a dedicated boost controller. Profec b spec 2 is the most recommended. Your pfc\'s boost settings will need to be set at ahigher value over your dedicated boost controller to stop fuel cut, and then you can let the dedicated boost controller controlling the boost.
