Since picking her up, i thought id go and stick some petrol in ready for work tomorrow. Checked all fluids which where all fine. Drove all the way to Shell at speed limits and off boost
Filled her up with VPower.
On the way back, i thought id check the boost, didnt get anywhere near redline and there was a pop, hesitation and it ran extremely lumpy and had no power what so ever. Luckily i was on my street so crawled home. No buzzers or warnings
Ive taken 2 quick vids so you can give me an idea of whats happened...
Not happy since its my 2nd outing!!! Pretty gutted..
Videos uploading now...
You checked all the hoses etc? Might have gone on boost and popped a hose off etc which could have caused an air leak, also popping and banging is normal in an RX7, its the fuel exploding in the exhaust :rollin
Cant see it being a hose tbh.. Got to be more than that...
Ps... Gauges are :censored::censored::censored::censored: and wired up wrong.... Seller told me..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIRgfWS3X2M&feature=g-upl&context=G2fb416aAUAAAAAAAAAA
P.s im driving it into my garage..
Are there any bubbles in the coolent tank?
Do you mean champagne bubbles?
Have you looked under the bonnet?.......does sound like you\'ve blown a hose off as MITCH suggests. .....lumpy idle, no power and boost gauge will read vacuum to 0 but no positive pressure. Cant really plumb a boost gauge up wrong...?
Gauges - i meant water temp oil pressure and oil temp..
Going to check over the car now... Ill report back in 5- 10
Doesn\'t sound great mate sounds like a misfire though maybe just a plug or coil, pull the plugs and have a look of you don\'t find any loose hoses,
Could even just be a loose HT lead meaning that 1 of the rotors are running on just the trailing plug
Just checked all pipes, shook them, jacked the front of the car looked underneath.. All HT leads are sat onto plugs.. Pulled off and refitted and tried again, ran the same..
Out of ideas..
Will pull plugs out if i can..
Sure its not the boost sensor in the passenger side bulk head just behind the throttle body ?
Shaun
Pull the plugsate take the elbow off and you\'ll be fine,they\'re cheap enough to try, though when you\'ve got them out take the big yellow egi relay out and crank, listen for 6 even compressions while you there, but as Shaun says check the map vac hose on the bulk head,
Plugs and coils needs to be checked. I think your plugs are fouled! And this could be because of various reasons.
Mir
Do a resistance check on your coils mate. :)
Hi Mate, Have you rang the garage where you bought the car from, and given them the opportunity to resolve the issues you have?
won\'t start Now. pushed out the garage aswell....
I pulled the plugs which looked fine first thing this morning. I\'m going to remove again and try the flooding procedure..
Any body near Blackpool that fancys some beer tokens to come and diagnose? :(

Will do today. Was abit late yesterday.
Quote from: matt p;816805Do a resistance check on your coils mate. :)
Wouldn\'t know where to start lol
Seem like you\'re having a few probs since purchasing, sorry to hear this! :(
Which FD did you buy and reading posts, assume you got one from Dave / ESP?
Got a link to the FD? Was it for sale on here?
Defo listen to peeps that comment on your threads, they know what they\'re talking about :)
Phil
check the vacuum line on the MAP sensor
Hi
Sorry to hear of your troubles, as mentioned on here, check for any obvious boost pipes that have come off and check your getting a spark to the plus from the coil, and the final check would be the vacuum line behind the intake manifold.
However if you\'ve checked this and all seems ok then you have to consider a chipped/cracked seal... However I\'d speak with ESP ASAP and let them make a decision as to what the next steps are.
As People have said it could be something simple, I had this on my FD and it was a cracked tip, caused by the fuel pump, however when it happened on my FC it was the intake manifold. Same symtoms.
Hope you get it sorted.
Richard
Would do mate if you were a bit closer but blackpool is a drive.is it standard ecu and twin turbos?
Did you listen for even compressions with plugs out as the way its idling does suggest
a chipped tip its quite a harsh misfire
I dont think its air leak as its too rough for that
I had this same sort of problem last week. I followed the vacuum line on the MAP sensor and found it had come apart down between the engine and bulk.
I checked everything i could and couldnt find anything.
Its now at WGT.. I await some bad news, lol..
Thanks everyone for advice... Seems i have alot to learn, lol..
^^^^ now that would be a nice and easy fix! :)... Fingers crossed it\'s something as simple as that ..... as it would be such a shame if it\'s chipped a tip so soon! :(
Keep us posted.....
Yep....
Engines gone...
2nd day WTF.....
^^^^ No, FDUKin way!! :O... How are you so sure?
guess the car is at WGT and they have compression tested it
^^^^^ Yup...
They picked the car up and gave me the bad news shortly after it arrived.
What are the compression results? Find out from Pip. He would tell you. What\'s damaged in the engine?

that sucks dude, these cars are getting old and engines looms are getting old and brittle through heat causing all sorts of problems, was it a stock car or modded?
Sad times dude, really not nice to hear... I mean you\'ve only just bought it / picked it up and from what I\'d read, not even given it any boost yet?!
Hopefully there\'s some light at the end of the tunnel..... :)

My heart sank when i read those words..
I too have recently just bought an FD. I can\'t imagine how gutted you must be right now. At least from what i\'ve read your car is in very good hands with Pip at WGT
gutted for ya dude. Now v8 it..
Balls, I\'m near Blackpool and would have come and have a look.
Your in good hands with Pip, he knows his rotaries.
Shaun
Sorry to hear that mate......you\'ve joined the dreaded club.
Damn another one bites the dust, did sound mechanical in video, well I hope you do get it done,I know it\'s a shame but at least now of you have it done you can have it built how you want and know its reliable, though I know it\'s a pain and alot of money after 2 days, the dreaded rotary does it again
Have you contacted the garage you bought it from???
Richard
:censored::censored::censored::censored: a duck mate, I feel for you man.
Best of luck with it, hope you save it too :)
What a total :censored: mate gutted for you !! Id be getting a possey down to the sellers place !
So sorry to hear this mate.. :( really hope you have better luck with it but everyone is right you are in good hands with Pip he is a legend..i thought my FD had bit the dust as it felt lumpy and hardly any boost at all. Turned out it was just fowled plugs and HT leads but he spotted it straight away..the man is a god!
How did you on with the seller ? I\'m quite curious as I was thinking of havi g a car imported by him in the future...
Thanks
Richard

Im afraid i cant say at the moment.
However, my wife had her car, Nissan Elgrand imported from JM Imports.. Cant recommend him enough...
Sorry to hear the bad news.
I was with a white FD owner yesterday who unfortunately whilst at a rotory specialists having his brakes looked at one of the rotors went, they confirmed it needs rebuilding. It was rebuilt last year and fortunately still under warranty.
Hope you get yours fixed soon.
hey dude going off your video sounds like a chipped tip, any details from WGT about it?
Hope you get it sorted soon mate and shame to have a rebuild so soon
Kris
Yeah a similar thing happened to me, I bought a 3rd gen and a fortnight later the engine went pop... It was a private sale so no comeback for me...
I appreciate these things happen, probably more so on an imported car, but I definetly feel the dealer should have tell some responsibility in the matter, and having previous dealings with the dealer think he would put the car right.
Anyhow WGT are one of the better builders/tuners so if your paying yourself then it\'s the best route to go down :)
Richard

To be honest i thought i was dealing with a reasonable and reputable dealer, but unfortunately so far there is no willing from his side at all.

Shane, there are two sides to this story and you are giving very little of the actual truth and factual points. I do not like arguments or confrontation but nor do i like bad publicity when i simply do not deserve it, i have never been taken to court nor had any problems from Trading Standards in the eight years i have been trading as esp so i consider myself to be a decent guy.
I sold this to you under the motor trade rules which i hasten to add you willingly signed a legal document stating exactly that. The car was already reduced by £500 and then you also got another £500 by buying this way, i\'m sorry but i really can\'t do it all and nor would any other dealer!
You will also recall that i didn\'t want to sell you this car as i made a zero profit on it and was in the process of actually breaking it up for parts that would have actually made me a profit. You insisted i put it back together and sell it to you which i did as requested, you were also made aware of the fact that i was no longer willing to retail sale any rotary powered car be it an RX7 or an RX8 due to the poor reliability.
You were made fully aware how you were buying this car, the document is written in extremely plain English and which a copy of which has been sent to you and one to my solictor who will be more than happy to take this all the way. I do have other key issues regarding the sale but i\'ll hold onto these for now, if you want to take this further then please do so, i think you\'ll find i\'ve dotted the i\'s and crossed the t\'s.
Dave.
Dave your not the only trader out there to refuse rotary powered cars, D Mcinn car sales near me in Hemel Hempstead said the same thing 7 years ago lol!
I was in there having a look around with my mate at a GT four and generally asked the question if he had any and he just said they were not worth the grief with the crap cars coming over at the time and it was getting crazy with the ones coming back under warranty.
Our cars are inherently unreliable...and if sold on trade terms then basically a private sale Sold As Seen! ....mines had a rebuild but no way would i want to warranty it!!!..... if i ever sold it!
Mines 19 years old! These are old cars now.....get a £2k rebuild with a warranty!
Nice edit... " Nor will there be any?? "
I\'m sorry.. But how am i not telling the actual truth and factual points??
I rang you as soon as i found out and you said that your not willing to do anything. I\'m not lying am i? Sourcing parts just isn\'t good enough I\'m afraid.
Trade sales to a non trader is against the Law. I am a consumer and i have consumer rights.
Looks like Ill have no option but to take Legal Action.
Temporarily locking this thread whilst the mods consider what action to take. The MRC forum was not involved in the sale/purchase of this vehicle and now "legal action" is being mentioned. In those circumstances it may not be appropriate for the topic to be discussed on here.
The MRC Moderating Team note that both parties have had an opportunity to express their sides of this sale/purchase situation. Consequently, in the spirit of the MRC dispute procedure, where both parties are permitted one post each, we conclude both parties have, in effect, already done this and we are consequently locking this thread.
