First of all, Dave was superb at Extreme Sports. Very Professional and made us all feel welcome.
The drive home was great and nearly 5hrs of 60mph all the way home..:2Confused
Now for the questions..
Oil temp was steady, round 70 80 on the motorway. Oil pressure i think was around 1.5 - 2+
But when i got home and opened the garage, shifted a few things the temp shot up to 110 - 115, it started to idle funny. Up ad down idle. And oil pressure was 0 but when took round the block raised to around 1.5..
When turned off the engine sound like it had an upset tummy.. Very bubbly from what sounded like was inside the engine?? It would bubble, pause for 2 secs, bubble again etc....
Any advice please.. Put my mind at rest.... Thanks
Right, just read the bubbling is normal.. How bizzare, lol..
Is the temp normal though? For standstill?? I didnt even give it a blast, however, we did drive over 250 miles
Am i just worrying too much?
your oil gauge will go from 0-8 and anything inbetween, dont worry about it
These are uprated gauges, so more reliable than the standards... that still ok?
Mainly worried about the oil temp 115oc at standstill...
Wouldn\'t worry, sounds fine. Enjoy :)
Sorry but I personally wouldn\'t say the coolant bubbling was normal or 115 degrees, I would be checking and bleeding my coolant and maybe a champagne test
on ebay there is stuff called "water wetter" and it basically increases the waters ability to disperse heat could try putting a bottle of that in also check to see what your antifreeze content is, not enough and you will encounter probs

What would you expect oil temps to be?
My car bubbles n it is fine when shut down, my sons does after a long drive. And that\'s fine. Rotarys do produce air and when shut down can bubble as they push water out into the over flow and draw back.
Hmm? None the wiser lol.
What\'s the best coolant and where do i get distilled water? Halfrauds?
No idea with oil temps tbh,
5yr and 25k with 3 coolant changes in that time and mine has never bubbled,
Famous last words lol
I\'ve read a few times on the net that the bubbling is normal?
Anyone else want to confirm? Lol
Halfords mate try to go for the green stuff if poss but any will do.
Bleed it well and try the champagne test while your on.
115 degrees is not normal either , check fans come on otherwise a good bleed will sort any air in system.
Both my FDs would bubble after switching off, both standard vehicles one was an early 92 UK one, the second a 2002 model. I would hear the bubbling regardless of driving style. When you consider how hot the turbo pack gets some boiling of the coolant within the pack for a period of time after the car is turned off when the coolant is not being circulated may not be unexpected.
May be as simple as the AST has cracked....and would not drive your car at 115 degrees until you resolve. Did the coolant and overflow need topping up?
I think people are getting confused regarding temps here. I think the OP was regarding oil temps, not coolant.
Bubbling is very normal.
Water Levels were fine this morning.. Havent started it yet..
But gave the rubber pipe from rad a few good squeezes and water levels gone down about 10-20mm in the rad/block filler.
Fans came on so they work.. I am talking about oil temp though??
Thanks for the ideas chaps

Bubbling is very normal.
Thanks mate.
Any idea on what oil temps should be?
Thanks
Temps your seeing while driving sound fine. Higher temp at stand still is normal, would soon drop once driving again.
My water seals went at only 110c coolant temp so glad your talking about oil temps haha!!!
Mine used to bubble like crazy after I switched it off, though solved that for about 15 quid. Simply changing the ast cap worked for me.
