Title: stupid
Post by: Squealy on July 06, 2004, 02:43:06 AM
I apologise for the forthcoming stoopid question:

Recently fitted a boost gauge and have noticed that unless the loud pedal is to the floor she does not hold boost.  It sort of just slowly fades away. eg if showing 0.5bar it tails off to about 0.1.  Boot it and its fine.  Now I know diddly squat about blowers.  Does this sound normal or should it always hold pressure?

erm sounds fairly normal to me, althou .5 on WOT (wide open throttle ie foot to floor) sounds low & maybe sumin awry of a hose etc nature, as i recall if yer just holding steady revs with minimal throttle then it will go down towards 0 or even -ve boost readings init....

Mate you only use boost to get you there, once at an even speed it will drop to nothing or very little. Turbos are really only used to accelerate.

I see.  Like I said dont know much about turbos!  Cheers Gary

Si.  Not 0.5 on WOT.   sorry mate I made life a bit confusing there. She boosts 0.8 - 0.5 - 0.8 or there about on WOT.
