what is a good fast spooling single turbo to push about 450 bhp with a streetport???? was thinking about a t04 or a t88
i thought the big boys like the T88 were more about big BHP top end not so quick to spool thou (Read hello lag

lol)
Si
whaking the throtel going round a corner aint so fun when u have to wait 20 mins for ur power to kick in and when it dosue kick in u end up backwars aint all that fun unless ur into that stuf :P
will a t78 spool quick if not then we are jsut gona go for a to4e dragon has a nice used kit on his website i hope he still has
I\'ll leave those with sum experiance to comment on the different turbos, have you looked at rolling bearing 35 or owt?
Best bet ref dragon is to give the main man ross a buzz & bend his ear

Si
T88 is very big turbo.
T78 big turbo.
To4S, Tdo6 25G medium turbo.
TO4E Small turbo.
I have sold the TO4E, (need to update site!) Still have a TDO6 25G kit in stunning condition, actually like new. And a Blitz kit in good condition.
Still got the T88?
What about the GT35/40? With the correct porting this should be possible.
Fish
what rpm will the TO4E spool at also dragon would u accept the buisnes of us sending u down the sideplates and rotor housings and u giving them a streetport??? looking for someone that will jsut port the individual pices coz we are rebuilding the engin ourselfs (god help it)
;)
As has been said before, that turbo summary is all over the place for use on a rotor. Its a guide of turbo size versus others but not much more.
Just a rough guide thats all Rich.:)
you ladies no narthing!

i iz going real big turbo soon (http://www.thedodgegarage.com/new_base/base_big_turbo.jpg) lmao
Si
TD06 25G... nice street turbo. 450bhp is easilly achievable with a few choice mods. thats what I\'m aiming for on mine:)
T88?!?! are you mad! ... it\'ll get you killed!
we are going for a t4/to4e what sort of power do u thing we can get out of it with a streetport??

450hp (even at flywheel) on a TD06 25 is not going to be
\'easily\' achievable IMO...
Ross, you\'ve driven a few 25G\'s havent you? what are they capable of at sensible boost do you think?

360 hp at the Hubs on a Dyno hub.
Kind regards
Carl
sounds nice :D what sort of spool time is that tho i would be more happy with 360hp with good acceleration and spooltimes than 1000hp that takes 10 seconds to spool lol we will prob do crail from time to time but for us the thril of driving is in the scotish hills also track days wont be out of the question waht is 360rwhp in fwhp about 400?
T04E is a small framed turbo altho you can spec them up for pretty big power if u desire. It will spool up very quickly based on the one T04E I\'ve driven, not that different to the twins just more linear delivery.
Not sure of conversion to fwhp on the dynapack but I recall Johns was about 7% higher on the hub dyno over the rollers so roughly yes, about 400 at the flywheel would be a good estimate.
360 rwhp would be lovly i aint got mutch knowledge about the boost but im gona gues about 14psi of boost???? prob ,milesof jsut a gues :D lol well thx allot u guys u have been most helpfull cant w8 till we start rebuildign this engin
hmmm.. probably right Rich.. TD06 will probably max out at 450 around.

Probably a bit more, 16-18psi I would guess.
at least i wasent that far of :D lol anyone know any good sogns to play on an acoustic jsut got one for ym bday and cant think of any good sogns to elarn :S
In my expereince the boost on the T04E will go over 1 bar at medium revs, say from 2000-6500rpm and drop off at higher revs to around 13 psi.
T04S should maintain it to the redline.
Kind regards
Carl
carl do u map pfcs?
T51R :D

Thats what happened to Geffs turbo when it made 430atws; was making just over a bar thru 5K but was tailing off quickly afterward :reallymad
GT35 is a very nice turbo, the 700hp spec. one.
Check this page out, this car runs 18inch tyres - see how much power it has in the videos!!! :)

Hi Rich,
That would be the ex Bentley turbo that Geff had on at "Rotorstock"?
What happened to Max\'s GT 35/40 on Geffs car?
On Clives we found that it kept up with the engine no problem right through the rev range. Now with more mods we shall see if that is till the case.
Did it drop off at revs on Geffs?I hear that it ran the same times with Guy driving at the pod in that form?
On Gary Goodings we got over 460 hp at the hubs at just over 1 bar with the GT 42/45.It is such a nice turbo!
We are repairing that engine as we speak.
Kind regards
Carl:)

Yes I do map PFC\'s along we Anthony Cunningham.
We are not cheap though!

Grrr...just typed long reply to this and then ruddy PC crashed!
Basically: GT35 not tuned - running fueled up bentley map. box dead at RS, used box in, time I got to pod it sounded like one of brians cars :) guy had 6 runs, 2 he managed to get thru 3 and 4 in but only cause he was granny shifting. consequently motor speed dropping too much between shifts (dunno whether no bov worsened it, not convinced) and engine/turbo was bogging down a bit. suspension mods seem to work tho, couple of low 1.6 60fts...
Offered him gt42r but needs a manifold etc and no time/money for that atm. box being rebuilt now. but nothing much gonna b done to car now due to paid work! will be interested to see how 42 spools on 20B and how quickly it runs out of huff being smaller on the turbine side than garys. i would be interested to see how the 13b goes with the 42. geffs made a bit less than 460hubs at 16psi but like u say with t04, boost was dropping off to 13psi after 5k - shame cause on the road the motor has a definite big squit of power between 6 and 8K...
Whats with clives car? engine was in a RS wasnt it? ready to be tuned soon? any time scale for senor goodings car to be back on the dyno/road?
R.
Hi Rich,
Clives has been running for quite a while but not yet mapped.Should be fairly soon though.
Gary\'s is being rebuilt. Not sure when it will be up and running yet.
I thought that the GT35 was mapped at CPL and it was jumping on the rollers over 300hp?That was just before the santa pod runs?
Tim will be up there this Saturday to arrest the times back from Geff and Ross.He has a new secret weapon that I have supplied to him!!!
Should prove interesting!
Kind regards
Carl

You should know by now that we all ever only get half the story Carl :)
Max bought the car up as Geff was driving a big supra he had to tune. The car was spinning the wheels on the dyno, combo of crappy tyres (had swapped off the D01Js) and the fact that they couldnt tie it down any tighter to compensate as the rear diffuser was getting torn up. Max had to leave at midday (with car) so there wasnt time to remove it and try tuning again tune. So the map was just gaffed slightly for safety as far as I\'m aware. Hard to tune properly if its slipping at only 300atw and it made 430 on the smaller turbo, eh?

Tim was at the garage last week picking up/dropping off stuff. His car actually sounds like its fast now he\'s got a big exhuast on it :) He was on about a few things he would be trying to alter some \'components\' of his runs... ;)
has someone got a pic of a t04e manifold and downpipe gona see if it will be possible to make it

Full story seems to match my version pretty well.I see no disparities.

Carl
OK, if \'mapped\' means tuned to 300hp then there are no disparities. If you stopped mapping an intended 500hp car at 300hp would that be mapped? I think \'no\', thats what i was trying to convey. As usual tho quite badly I expect! Apologies.
I said it hadnt been tuned, just the bentley map bodged. Thats what happened, slipping on the rollers meant tuning couldnt be under taken so the map was \'safened up\' by throwing a bit more fuel in across the board. I guess it worked well enough for Pod as the engine still felt new on the way back and whilst I had it a couple of days afterward, no mean feat after what must be 30+ 1/4 runs easily - and thats including seeing \'some\' boost and some high RPMs at times :D
You said \'it was mapped at CPL\' as if you were under the impression that it had been \'properly\' mapped like it was when it was tuned with the other turbo. It wasnt.
Sorry for the confusion.
Whats the spec on Clive\'s now btw? When I gave you a lift back from Shakespeare you said you would be shooting for 500atw\'s - that still the plan? I\'m interested to see just how these 35 and 42R\'s shape up. I\'m intrigued to see what the 35/40 can make on a 13B. I\'ve heard acouple of complaints on the NZ list regarding back pressure and dead engines on much over 400rwhp. I cant see that myself at the moment but I dont suppose tehre are that many setups about to find out atm...keep us posted please?

If Geff had not mapped it properly on either combo then that is not good.It is a waste of time and effort putting all of the right bits on a car and not mapping it properly.Lets hope that Geff gets some time soon to be able to map it and then go for the 10 second 1/4 that he said he will do in it.
I don\'t mean that it wasn\'t mapped properly, just that as most tuners know,a different turbo needs remapping due to it\'s different spec and airflow charecteristics.Apologies if it was misunderstood.
Clives is ported, dowelled, ceramic apex seals, and quite a few secret mods on top of that.We will look for some high power soon.
At the moment it is just about run in.looking for a high 15 second at first!!!!
Kind regards
Carl
did you go for the paper mache rotors for the light weight? and using the MFI wooden dowels for lightness. Also, removing the liquid coolant, and using a helium derivatie should help keep the system running cool...

How soon? :D We have no patience here :) Well I dont any way, its all used up on other \'projects\' :rollin

I think we have another kind though, that is Patients!!The nutcase variety!
I should know.LOL!

Clives should be 500hp flywheel.

Carl
All sounds interesting ya

Si (very patient

lol)
Don\'t forget the new porting technique as discussed the other day OJ :)
Still can\'t find a spyrograph set in the shops ;)

This forum makes some neat entertainment at times:)
talking of turbos, whats a T88 22b like on a streetported 13B, I have a new one and i\'m not sure wether to keep it or sell it. My TO4b wont produce more than 15psi, and i have to keep upwith max:D
