Title: FD small oil leak...
Post by: Damanb89 on February 19, 2012, 03:10:49 PM
i have just discovered that my FD has a small oil leak, its not leaving puddles of oil in the drive but when i got underneath i can clearly see that oil is leaking from somewhere and has a small droplet in the centre of the lower engine brace, are there any common locations where this leak could be coming from that i should check first? i hate determining the location of a leak!!

look high and then look low oil will travel downwards not up so around the highest loacation is where the leak is from a common one from the front of the engine is a leak from the power steering pump there is a rubber tube that joins the resevour to the pump and it has been known to weep and drip onto undertray and come out near the centre front of the engine

common problem is the rear main oil seal leaking, this is at the back of the engine inside the gear box bell housing and will show oil at the gear box to engine joint by the rear of the subframe.
